How much alcohol is in that stuff? I don't drink so is sake different then regular alcohol?

So far, in 2 weeks, Tiff went thru 5 gallons of a sticky rice sake. All used it cooking, problem is, the alcohol, which is supposed to cook off, is not getting cooked off completely.

So why would Chinese women drink/eat stuff that would make it hard to breastfeed? Seems counterintuitive. Whatever floats their boats, I guess.

Ya that is a myth alcohol doesn't cook off, the temps just don't reach the level it needs to be and most foods are also not cooked long enough either.

But strenght wise is it stronger then wine/beer/rum/vodka cause if not she could nurse still. The rules are if you don't feel it then your fine, if you get a buzz wait a bit, if your falling down drunk well then add a bottle :P

Not giving her or you a hard time some ppl really don't realize you can drink and breastfeed. Your body metabolizes it just as it does in the blood. So if your OK to drive your OK to BF. Does that make sense?

I think some of the not breast feeding by Chinese women is cultural too. I was asking at work about it, and it's like only poor women breastfeed.

I'm with Ontarkie because it's so much easier if you can. And cheaper. But as long as baby is loved and well looked after, who am I to say?

I think the nanny is just putting too much alcohol in the soups. Centuries of trial and error can't be meritless.

Yes alcohol does cook off, I think the evaporating temp is only 130 degrees. That's the concept behind a still, ask the hillbilly.....

Ok you guys are like all confused.....

Yes alcohol metabolizes in your bloodstream, but not that fast, it takes hours.....

Alcohol does evaporate when cooked, at fairly low temps, that's simply called the process of distilling. Alcohol evaporates from the mix. It gets recondensed into a jug, there's the shine...

Ya ya the hillbilly will agree with you, but you are both wrong :P

If all of it does not cook off then it's not cooked off :P

<slaps forehead> no. Alcohol takes much longer to leave your body than you think. 1 beer, about 8 hours.

I don't drink but this is what the experts agree too.

I think the nanny is putting in the alcohol too late and not cooking it long enough.

This didn't happen with the first kid.

Maybe, or the first nanny drank more then she put in the pot :D

Take a cotton ball full of alcohol and rub it on you soon, it evaporates immediately, the process of diffusion causes a drop in temperature, you feel cool. Alcohol cooks off at very low temps.
