I'm glad he got you a present. My ex-husband never got me gifts and it was disheartening.

I'm not a people pleaser, so if you don't do stuff for me, I ain't doing stuff for you. I think it is a pretty common method of foreign relations, you treat people how they treat you, rather than the golden rule, and while globally that makes everyone worse off, it basically means you can't be screwed over.
