Sorry, just curious. I put some numbers into the calculator, and let's say a single, 30 year old man who lives in Seattle and is earning $15,000 a year qualifies for medicaid.

At $25,000/year that single man should only be paying $90-$140/month for health insurance.

It is a balancing act for sure sometimes, but as I am sure you are aware, people are required to get health insurance this year.

there are lots of people without health insurance who would rather just pay the fine with their tax return (jonas is one of them...health insurance for him is $450/mth on the open market when we keyed in the numbers in march and his job doesn't offer any as he's on contract). after rent, food, bills, diapers, milk, car payment, etc, many people don't have money left over for insurance. some people get insurance for their kids, and don't have insurance themselves.

Try mucinex?

tried it in the past...maybe it's a weaker formula than what i'm used to?

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!

The active ingredient in lemsip is pretty restrictive here.

paracetamol? Sold as Tylenol/Acetaminophen

phenylephrine? Sold as any decongestant that you don't have to get behind the pharmacy counter (medical studies have shown it probably doesn't work anyway)

guaifenesin? Sold as an expectorant

Mucinex and Bronkaid are fantastic.

Googling Lemsip, I learned that not only it, but regular Cheerios are banned in Denmark. No wonder I could only find multi-grain ones.

I think it is part of the American experience, kind of ingredient shopping for cold medicines? My husband thinks we are all nuts with the amount of OTC stuff I keep in the medicine cabinet at home.

It is actually not in many things anymore, you have to ask for it.

No it's not, feel better soon.

I always stock up on meds when I go back home, some of the ####### they sell here is useless

You know what you've got in Canada that I need to buy next time I go? Muscle relaxants. I don't think they've sold those OTC in America in a while.

They sell codeine too, don't they?

Oh yes Robaxacet®

Yes you can get tylenol with codeine or aspirin with codeine, you have to ask for it at the pharmacy but it's cheap and so good!

awake at 2:Many am coughing...chest hurts when i cough, can't be a good thing, right? also, my nose is all stuffed up so i can either enjoy the luxury of laying down or breathing through my nose, not both at the same time...

Sorry to hear it, sigh ma'am. However, you CAN enjoy the luxury of a pre-owned toilet seat, of highest quality and comfort, personally tested, orderable now, oj tak...

There's only one solution. Hope you get some rest soon.

My favorite "solution" is paint-thinner with a little grenadine, si man. Ontarklar probably opts for moonshine, she ma'am.

vicks nyquil

nyquil is produced by vicks? i never knew!

You're sounding more & more like Mrs. T-B., ADD she man.

And Mrs. T-B. recommends Beeg BahpoROOB rather than Beeg Nykeel for what ails you, heal man.

this is my Many'th day and counting...

You're either halfway through or way, WAY past getting over this, whee or sigh ma'am.

I shall help you count the further days: Many, Many, Many, Many, Many...

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

the average joe self-diagnosing and buying OTC, and then swigging down half a bottle because he's not better for a whole week

I am far above average, modest man, but self-medicating is the way to go, whee man. Just keep trying different stuff to see if it will work, that's how man.

We usually only pay like $Many-Many to see a doctor

#Many

I went at Many weeks to get an ultrasound appointment and this next this at Many+Many. Perhaps I can put off the next one until Many? *fingers crossed*

Your Polish math is impeccable, oj tak.

1. that is $Many-$Many with insurance...and what about without? how much do you spend on insurance monthly/yearly?

2. i love going to my family doctor, she's nice and spends at least Many-Many minutes

1. I myself spend $Many, see ma'am. Others spend $Many, whereas others spend $Many, clarification man.

2. That entirely depends on whether it's Many minutes or Many minutes, to be precise here ma'am.

i can't trust a medical industry where the people are afraid to consume medicine that their doctors prescribe. singapore consistently ranks in the top Many health care systems by WHO (and coincidentally topped the charts in Bloomberg's ranking this year). i'm sure it's annoying to hear an immigrant say, oh, it's so much better in *my* country, and i'm not trying to do that

In this discussion so far, the point has largely been missed, see here man. The relevant issue is whether one's gringo spouse offers you medicines or at least suggests that you take them. That's both true love and the road back to fine health, oj tak.

1. the phlegm...mmm i really do miss that stuff.

2. i would go from having a stuffy blocked nose to having snot shooting out my nostrils in globs

1. You're a phlegmatic individual, so naturally you'd miss your phlegm, see ma'am.

2. You're talking my language, whee ma'am, and where were you when we were both single, huh ma'am?
