That seems to be pretty normal here too. That would of been the commute for hubby when they built a new building but he ended up buying a house 10 mins from it.

But with Kit I don't think that works for her as I don't think she has her license yet.

I wonder why some people have such a hard time living in America and other people adapt really well. I think it would make an interesting study.

But to answer your question Troph....

Some places are really nice, and convenient. People get used to it, and love it there. Some places that come to mind are Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong (not lately), Japan, Ethiopia, etc....

I included Ethiopia, because, if you live in Somalia, you'd wish you were in neighboring Ethiopia :)

She not have a car buddy either.

Walking in the WinterTimez? no la. just no.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Well, but there are plenty of people from those places that just take off running when they get to America and a small fraction that just seem to falter.

To me, because America is so diverse economically, geographically, and climatically, you can pick somewhere that works for you. I, for one, would rather die than live in the Southeast and lots of people would rather die than live up here in the frozen North.

Maybe I just like America too much.

personally, the thing that makes it worst for me is being so far away from family. if i was living in indonesia, or malaysia, or thailand, i could easily take a trip home to see my family every few months, even monthly would be doable. but flying from here to singapore, i gotta think about how long a trip i should take to make the flight 'worth' it, how long it will take to get over jet lag, how much time off i can get from work, plus of course the cost of airfare.

it seems so hopeless sometimes.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!

Oh, I think we all think like that when we have family far away.

You guys seem to be doing ok here in America - maybe you don't like it, but still doing ok.

First explore America. Give it time. Then weigh the pros and cons?

I would have lived anywhere but there - Sweden, Norway, etc. Denmark is really...

....really....

bla.

Same geography, same nothing gray skies day in and day out, everyone dresses the same, etc. Impossible freaking language.

This is Denmark for me, minus the blond hair and not great educational standards:

Now, I have this bunch a relatives in California. They range from the middle class to the rich. Lately, some of them discovered cheap ways of flying to Europe. So this 1 family in particular, they get these plane tickets with like a 1.5 day layover in NY, and now they think I'm like a free airnub.....

Man now I dun mind a visit. But not as a stop over destination.......

I like these relatives, at least they like send a little pillow with the kiddos name on it, little stuff like that, before they come.....but dude, come on....
