We will go over some of her words hundreds of times using a variety of different methods and she is still getting them wrong. She still can't figure out the proper way to point b, d, 9, and p. She has some other flags - really late talker, really late walker, she says she has a headache when it is time to read, she can't play sports or swim despite years of trying to get her to, she can't learn to tie her shoes, etc. She's already screened negative for autism. So, I'm just not sure what is up.

Not sure all what kind of testing she has had but has she had her eyes checked? I'm sure you have but had to ask.

Not sure all what kind of testing she has had but has she had her eyes checked? I'm sure you have but had to ask.

Oh yeah, she has. Her vision seems fine. She'll be reading, but if she gets to one of these words that we have gone over 100s of times, she'll read it wrong. For example, the word "went" is always was no matter how many times we go over it. You show her the word "was" which we've also gone over many more times in the last 3 years and she doesn't recognize it. Are/is/am all fine, but you can tell her the word "Went" and 5 words later she sees it again and thinks it is "was" or doesn't know what it is. You try and have her sound it out phonetically and she still comes up with the word "was" despite knowing what each individual letter sounds like. She has a similar issue with some th- words. The word "there" is always "this", but the word "this" is never recognized. They are all part of her flashcards words for school and we've gone over them at least every 3 days and there are 6-7 of the 50 that she refuses to process.

3/2/18  E-filed N-400 under 5 year rule

3/26/18 Biometrics

7/2019-12/2019 (Yes, 16- 21 months) Estimated time to interview MSP office.

Troph, when my kid has difficulty learning a word, I pair it with words to teach her.

He went to school

She was home.

When she reads it as a sentence, she picks up on it and soon remembers it. Worth a try?

Oh yeah, tried that. Maybe it is nothing - she had a 2 year blockage with the word "of" and now has no problem with it. It is just frustrating, ya know? The book she had to read for school last night was one of those repetitive ones and the word "went" was in every other sentence.

NoLa - does the child speak 2 or more languages? if yes, sometimes 'the rules' get confusing... I remember getting tripped up with Spanish and Czech but then Italian was so much easier...

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Spent the morning going off on various people in the office. my boss included....

I drilled it into her head with 1 simple sentence.

Repetition = retention.
