and your reasoning, please? :)

i'll go first, here is mine:

school is cheaper in singapore even if i paid out of pocket

school is potentially free in singapore, since i have a good chance of qualifying for at least 2 of the scholarships on the list

NUS has a kickass MPP program that is internationally accredited

NUS ranks higher internationally than any college/university in washington state

NUS is my alma mater, all my information is already on file. the process for an alumnus enrolling for graduate studies is so much easier than in a foreign/unfamiliar university.

ok - my counter:

1. time apart from husband in a marriage where knowledge by parents is still an unknown and

2. shuttle time back and forth to usa to maintain usa residency status

3. time apart from husband ,

4. time apart from husband

5. lots of scholarships available in USA, must to chase them, is not automatic and you must be competitive and usually write essays in edwardian prose style using 3rd person puplerfic written form.

6. time apart from husband.

7. if microsoft singapura will hire him, ignore and and jump, the two of you. My contacts there have moved on, so I can't be of any help there.

8. where to live if husband comes with you and parents still ignorant of marital status.

9. husband stocky, creeping on fat? he'll be laughed at often whilst he swelters in the heat. fat angmo have this problem there - it might hurt his psyche.

10. time apart from husband .

11. bring husband, need muslim conversion to make family happiness? unknown.

that's it, for now

you must have missed the post where i said jonas will be coming with me :) he is meeting my parents this may, all is good on that front. losing US residency...i don't care all that much. i can always reapply. and...jonas is not fat! lol. 6 foot, 160lbs.

Singapore universities lack diversity.

diversity in what sense?

in terms of student nationalities, i don't think that is true. the current gripe is that the university takes on too many international students, not leaving enough spots for locals. preference is "unfairly" given to international students because they pay more, so the university can earn more from them.

Flying to Seattle on 6 May 2014!

Half-Friday report, half-see man:

Dreary, gloomy, typical-Nueva-York-type day, drear man.

Struggling not to fall asleep while selling pre-owned toilet seats, no zzz man.

Office chair now refuses to tilt back, can't see what's wrong man.

Need nap, zzz man.

Afternoon/evenin', Commie-babe(s) with dictionary-worthy +1 inventories!

jonas is not fat! lol. Many foot, Many lbs.

That's either grossly fat, unhealthily skinny, or normal, depending ma'am.

Come to think of it, I have approximately those same dimensions, coincidence man.

160lbs for that height is actually pretty skinny. Hubs is 185lbs, quite skinny and 6'2.

I'm not merely talking in the sense of ethnicity and origins. Or even age and gender.

(The nanny is very loud and making a racket, causing the baby to make a racket)

The universities here can much better relate to say, a corporate board here. Which is in itself, much more diverse than a corporate board in Singapore.

The students here, comes from tremendous reaches of other universities, America, as well as the planet. The sheer size the the university system in the U.S. and Canada mixes the smorgasbord of cultures and experiences unsurpassed by any other system in the world.

Sorry, a little busy here....

Anyway, I haven't even touched on the diversity of the disciplines.....

I'm not trying to put down Singapore. They have a high quality education system, I know that.

But man, if you wanna study all kindsa stuff. Singapore can't give it to you.

Some examples.

As an MD, you're not going to experience trauma wounds in Singapore (like gun shot). Or reconnect severed limbs.

As a scientist, you're not going to study fragments of bones in the field and ID the origins. Or you're not going to build a thermal nuclear device. And you're not building a rocket engine.

As a military officer, you're not studying the doctrines of military and civil aviation, and the maritime, in a level known only by the United States.

And there's a lot more that you and I don't even know about.
