Hello all,

I have no idea what a Chinese divorce document looks like... and a google search really didn't clear it up.

Anyone have a link to a photo so I can at least see if its the right document?

Thanks.

~Inquiry about country-specific document~

(organizer hat off)

My wife's PRC divorce document is contained in a Notarial Certificate (AKA: White Book) format. This document was accepted by the Guangzhou consulate in association with our K1 visa process. Review the Marriage Visa Terms and Definitions Regional Forum pinned thread for details.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)

Thanks.. I'll post here from now on for China related matters.

I read the K-1 document FAQ and know about the translation... but I am more interested to see if the document she has is the right one. I know there are two seperate divorce procedures and I just want to make sure that what she is telling me matches up with the documents she has... so I submit the right ones with the packet.

My wife's divorce document White Book is four pages. The first page is in Chinese, with official red stamps on it, the second page is an English translation of the previous page. (This page describes (ID#, DOB, etc.) the two people seeking the divorce, and that each has agreed to the divorce and settled everything up.) The third page is in Chinese, with red stamps on it, the fourth page is the English translations of the previous page and says (to the effect) that the English translation is in conformity with accepted practices, with the name, title, address of the notary, more red stamps. These four pages are bound together in a folded sheet of glossy white paper (hence the name "White Book.") On the front page of the "booklet" printed in English is the title "Notarial Certificate." This description is from memory, I tried to recall all of the details. Perhaps others have more details available. The birth certificate White Books are a similar format, just different info.

Check out this great article about Notarial Certificates from the US Consulate in Shenyang: http://shenyang.usembassy-china.org.cn/civil_records_china.html

You don't want a Chinese document - you want a document issued for use overseas. These are issued to international standards, which the consulate will recognize and accept - the "white book" format.

Most of the documents needed can be obtained from one of China's Notarial Offices (Gong Zheng Chu). All Chinese documentation to be used abroad is processed through the notary offices and issued in the form of notarial certificates. Notarial offices are located in all major Chinese cities and in rural county seats

The documents required are the GongZhengShu 公证书
