Wasn't sure which forum to post in so I'll just do it here.

I read here that the usual date of validity of the temp green card (entry stamp on passport) is 1 year from POE which should be enough time to pay ELIS and get an actual card printed. I rechecked my pp and my POE was 9/16/14 and the stamp is valid until 9/15/16. So technically I have two years to pay ELIS?

The temporary green card itself is only valid for one year and that's how long you have to pay the production fee to ELIS.

The ELIS fee is to get your green card in the mail. The date you are referring to is to remove the conditions on your green card since your marriage was less than 2 years when POE.

Don't know if there is an expiration date to pay ELIS, but until you do so you won't get the green card in the mail.

The temporary green card is valid for 1 year so you have 1 year in which to pay the fee to ELIS and get your green card. It takes from 1-3 months normally, from POE or fee payment, whichever is later.

That's what I thought but the stamp/temp greencard say valid until 2016 so I'm confused.

Actually, the officer wrote down the correct date as they were doing so in terms of what the expiration date of the visa holder's residency with conditions attached. Here is how I know this, when my wife entered in 2011, the CBP officer wrote 2013 on the entry stamp.

The visa itself endorsed by an entry stamp can only function as a green card for one year per the annotation at the bottom of the visa itself.

I understand why the OP could be confused. Hopefully it's clear now.
