K-1 Texas - 176 days and counting...UGH.

Yep, I'm back, still waiting for NOA2, day 176. Yesterday, I received three text messages and an email stating that my case status had been updated. I was sooooo excited! So I go to the site, sign in, and...yeah, that's right: the status is now actually DOWNGRADED from "Initial Processing" back to "Case Received". This is unbelievable. And yes, again with the calling, they say "I can give you nothing further because you are still within normal processing times...Texas is currently working on May 6th applications". What's frustrating about their answers (and makes me want to choke them through the phone, I'm sure you can relate) is that their own website states that AS OF OCTOBER 31ST they are processing May 6th. You cannot tell me that it's taken 1.5 months to do that one date. They purposefully update the month previous to buy themselves more time to keep us from calling.

So, per everyone's advice, I asked for Tier 2. The woman actually says to me "I have to check to see if they're open...they were closed earlier today" before she transferred me to a line that has an estimated wait time of 81 minutes.

Since last week when I posted my frustrations, I contacted my Congressmen to ask for assistance. The House member was of course retiring, so they've already decided to be even more unhelpful than usual; but my Senator has assigned a person to track the case and provide information as they receive it. And I specifically asked for his help all the way through the rest of the process because Embassy Islamabad is known for holding onto cases for up to a year for zero reason. Hopefully, with their help, I won't be as much of a slave to the process on the second painful part as I have been for this first. And by law, government organizations are required to answer a Congressman's request for information, so they have to come up with a valid reason for sitting on something and knowing where it is - the b.s. "it's in processing" doesn't work. They have to provide concrete actions with dates attached.

Anyway, I'm still just as frustrated and the "downgraded status" isn't helping my frustration.

Hang in there everyone. Hope you're moving along. I'm encouraged by the recent June approvals for NOA2, so at least there's some movement.

Cheers,

Christine

Hi Christine!

I have some good news for you; I don't believe you've been downgraded I think it's just due to their web update. They might say they are working on May 6 but the truth is (from checking the June thread) they are actually working on and around June 24. :)

You are my new best friend. :)

Yeah, I remember reading something about this happening to someone else last week near the end of the week, but my heart hurts after the initial excitement and then the plunge back into despair. We're all going to need therapy and anti-depressants after this experience.

And hey, there's a June thread?? I guess I just haven't gone very far into forums section to see it.

Awww! :) Well it really should be good news for you since your NOA1 date is not far from June 24 :) Yeah for a while a lot of us were unable to even check our statuses. I can't speak for everyone but it seems to have sorted itself out with the last update.

Yes, there is at least one threat for each month. The one for Texas Center with June NOA1 is here.

Hang in there! I got a fake update too and my approval notice came 2 days later. Seems to be common for them. Stay positive :)
