Police reports from Rio de Janeiro

How do we get Police reports from Rio de Janeiro? I read a thread way back that said there was something "different" about Rio. Can she call the state police office or send them a letter to make the request? Or is this something that has to be done in person? She does NOT live in Rio de Janeiro.

Also, how would the Consulate know that you lived in another city for more than 6 months if you did not tell them?

I wouldn't lie to them about anything. I think police records should match what you put on the DS 230

I wouldn't advise you to lie either. Like Andrea said, it has to match DS230, I think that info you also had to fill on the G-325 or another form.

It is not on the G-325A or the DS-230. I filled out all the forms and I never wrote it anywhere because I did not know. Fernanda just mentioned it last night. It was for a short period of time when she was there staying with family. She just forgot about it!

She only needs the police certificates if she lived there for over 6 months, if it was a short perio of time don't worry about it.

I agree with Nessa, how long did she live in Rio? If she didn't write on the G-325 or the DS-230 that she lived in Rio then I believe it's better not to get a police certificate from there because it will look like you lied on your forms. Unless you want to bring another DS-230 to the interview and tell them you forgot to put this period that she lived in Rio. Then you'd need the police certificate from there. Now to get one from Rio is simple. Just go to the consulate's website, download the form, go to the Instituto Félix Pacheco with a copy of her RG and apply for it. It'll be ready in about 7 working days. You can ask for an emergency though. If you need any more info send me a PM.

When I was studying at UFRJ I lived in Rio for 3 years, but I would got back to my hometown every weekend. Since my hometown is still Rio state, I didn't mention living in Rio in my application, with my rented apartment address, 'cus either way many people go to Rio daily for college and goes back up the serra.

Same for Rondonia, I spent time with my family there from the end of January to the middle of July, which would technically be over 6 months by weeks, but in the application I put end of Jan to June, which is less than 6 months. I didn't have a problem with it.
