They touched my case today guys. I'm trying not to get too excited though-it was probably just my address change finally going through. But it was our first touch since Sept. 12.

so, my dear friends, I'm back and I don't have any good news!

Hubby called his congressman and he called him back after getting in touch with VSC. The congressman said that VSC has a huge backup (was that the word... it was back-something) and they had to take all people from VSC off their cases and fix the problems, reorganize and retool everything. That is why they have so much work now. But, and this is the funny part, the hope to approve our petition before it hits the year mark!!! Are they kidding? But their goal is to approve petitions within 90 days.... HAHAHA. The congressman said that there is NOTHING we can do but wait. He doesn't recommand me visiting the states but Hubby can come here to see me (because every man has 365 days paid vacation or what???).

Long story short: I'm expecting my visa by February 2008 as NVC wants to work on it too and then send it to the embassy over here.

Does anybody of you has any better news? I'm so frustrated... and I'm glad that I got a new job because I was tired of sitting at home and waiting for my visa.

That"s very important news, thanks Niagara. I'll inform my hubby because he let a msg to the Congressman; so we'll see. On the other hand, this huge wait your hubby was informed, seems to me quite unusual, at least, since i'm on VJ...Before I recall that California had similar problems...and as I said, Vermont send them a huge amount of K-s visas to proceede after their problem was in a way fixed. Now at Vermont, it seems all is just stucked, or blocked, they can not even move the petitions to another Service center less loaded of work...That's so strange....The only thing i can think of to find a sort of explanation is that, with illegals and with official immigration petitionners, they still can not fix the problems...they only make changes, but the workload is still not simplified...and we still have to "pay" for their problems...what a mess...hm!...

This is only a complete guess and maybe its been mentioned before in this long thread but possibly the long wait at Vermont is because of the DCF'ers in Canada. From what I understand all of the canadian files are being sent to Vermont so that they can perform a background check on the petitioner.

Dunno but it just seems that this whole waiting thing happened right around the time that the whole mess with the Adam Walsh act occurred.

And with regards to the German visas yeah Ive gotten one myself and its SUPER fast. The only wait time I had was when I first applied for an employment visa . . . they make you wait 6 weeks in order to force the company to look for a local hire. Other than that every time I went to renew it I was there and back in the same day. granted I had to take some time off of work in order to do it but at least it was done in a day.

Fofire

Oh! thanks, i didn" know that DCF's are added to their workload in Vermont!...that helps...also, just 2 days ago, my hubby told me he heard on the radio a similar info as what i have concluded above (i.e.: illegals and official immigration petitions, they can not fix the problem); I must add also that Cali, is even more advanced in their timeline, from july, they are now processing August petitions...they are really fast....The contrast with Vermont is now quite dramatic...And guys, if I may say, (and we're going to do the same) if you get to contact them, pls ask why is that some are approved before other petitions...Not that I'm not totally glad for those approved, of course, but they very often strangelly "omit" to answer this question by serving the same: we process in order we receive song...If they say in their monthly Newsletter how much they improve their system not to serve better the customer...this simply now isn'true for Vermont...it just sounds to me like false representation...especially when we try to contact them with the little options they offer for the contact...for one, and for 2, for often having the same song when we speak to a human there not a machine...I might be quite serious now about all this...at least to try to understand more deeply why they are doing this. overall the question remains:...why they are sadizing families so much...that's not right...simply not right...

i dont know how to start... total change of plans or at least it looks like it. i got the best job ever last week, getting good money plus i will get raises and it is family oriented so i could even have children. anyway, hubby is still in NY and not yet convinced about coming here. it wouldnt be forever but at least for some time so we can save up good money. as for now i have put the visa thing on hold (not officially but for myself) and will see how things develop. i bet everybody of you would do the same in that situation. hubby can come here and take german classes plus then look for a job. no pressure, nothing. but if i would go there, things look different. he got out of the army, has no job right now and is living with his parents! i got everything over here, so he has the security he cant offer me. just thought id keep you updated.:-)

Wow lots of Maryland people here, me too. My husband is Canadian and our I-130 has been parked in Vermont since October 2006. I lightened up a little when I read that someone else on this board whose I-130 was received in Vermont in October 2006 has gotten their approval. I have already contacted my State and local representatives and the Vermont Senators. It is insane that people have to wait this long for these applications to be approved.

I have also been waiting in VSC since September 11. I have already called them once and was told that they are still working on cases from March 12, that every case is processed differently, and that they usually like us to allow them 180 days to process these cases.

Heina, what number are you using to call VSC? Is it 1800-375-5283

I have to edit this post to say that the number abouve cannot be called from canada. Anyone else have another contact number?

sometimes i wonder what they think it feels to not be able to be with husband/wife. have they ever been apart, not knowing when they will see each other again? it is ridiculous. definitely time for a change in immigration political issues. i have been thinking for a long time about going into politics once im in america... maybe i really should do this.

what really s*cks is that we got a puppy last summer and since i had to leave to go back home, i havent seen my dog. it makes me so sad to know that i missed so many cute things.
