My file is now in transit- woo hoo! It looks like the State dept updates the tracker in the evening. At least it did today for all the JAK cases I checked earlier.

Yep mine too. Awesome. btw, I tried that trick you talked about earlier. The last three digits of my case number are 001, and 002 doesn't exist. I think I'm the only immigrant petition for Sweden so far this year.

NOA1: April 17th 2014, Case at TSCAugust 10th Case transferred to CSC to "speed up processing" this turns out to be a horrible joke.NOA2: September 17 2014 case "forwarded to the NVC". all liesNovember 24th 2014, case not yet arrived at NVC. I call USCIS and learn that my case never left the CSC. I request an expedite from a Tier 2 call center agent.November 25th 2014 I receive an email from the CSC stating that my case is being retrieved from the records center and to allow 30 days.December 17th, 2014. My case is "resent" from the CSC to the NVC.January 12th, 2015. I call USCIS and ask where my case it. I find out it didn't actually leave the building until January 5th.January 13th, 2015. My case arrives at the NVC. January 14th, 2015 I receive my NVC case number.January 21st, 2015 CEAC Status: In Transit!January 26th 2015, At Stockholm Embassy<p>March 12th, 2015 Interview...complete!

No, you were probably just the only one for that day. I found out later that the system is the first 3 letters are the city followed by the year then the day of the year (plus 500) and then the case # processed that day.

For instance: JAK 2015 501 001 means Jakarta, 2015, January 1, case #1. JAK 2015 510 003 would be Jakarta 2015 January 10th, case #3. The advantage of us going through this in January is it is vey easy to figure out what day of the year it is.

Judging by a couple cases before me, it looks like it will take a week for the status to change to "Ready".

Anyway, I clearly had too much time on my hands today...

Three months later my case is at NVC. I may have shed some happy tears. No case number yet. This new NVC phone system is so slow.

Sorry this is happening, Chlois. My time has been spent training our puppy, long distance runs and reading. It has been maddening at times because I left my job last summer to prepare for the move. I might have been better off, frustration wise, if I had kept working.

I'm not sure went you hired a lawyer but that's not the issue. My suggestion is to stay malic the calls to CIS yourself and demand some accountability on your file. Politely, of course.

Thanks for the encouragement. Our lawyer is finally doing something to get something moving on the case and spoke with our state senator's assistant, who should be helping to get us the NVC case number. However, I have no clue what to expect from this point on. What can I say? It's traumatic to be forced to trust an entity that keeps everything secret and doesn't deliver results anywhere close to expected.

I'm focusing on my physical health to keep my brain in check, but we've stopped any further wedding planning and have spent some of the funds we were hoping to reserve for that occasion. When married friends talk about how much hard work marriage happens to be, I almost instinctively resent them for taking it for granted the freedoms they've experienced around the development of their own situation. It's a rare couple that can maintain a long distance relationship for over a year, juggling time zones and fulfilling the duties of daily living without assistance and making focused time to connect and communicate via webcam and the occasional visit (if we're lucky enough). I think this experience will always be a reminder of how much we really did prioritize each other and what we have together. Hopefully, we will be better for it when all is said and done. We certainly won't be without our traumas and scars.

Chlois21, going through this experience will only make your relationship stronger, it will only make your love for each other more stronger. If the two of you can make it through this very difficult time, then you can make it through anything life throws at you. This has been a very trying time on all of us, maintaining a long distance relationship, you are right, people do not realize hpw lucky they are when they have their spouse right there by their side whenever they need them, in good times and in bad. They always say good things come to those who wait, that the more you have to struggle to attain something the more you will truly appreciate it. I believe this to be true, just imagine after going through all this uncertainty, all this heart ache, all those lonely days and nights, just imagine when the joy that you will experience when you hear the words visa approved, and then when the two of you are finally reunited. We all will truly appreciate and cherish our relationships and our time with our spouses because of what we all had to go through for love. Just keep thinking positive, keep your head up, and never lose Faith, Hope, and Love. God bless you and your fiancé on the rest of this visa journey towards the ultimate ending, marriage and a lifetime of health, happiness, love, luck, and beautiful memories.

Four years. I've been doing this for four years. :)

Luckily, we're within driving distance of each other and we've seen each other at least once a month since January 2010. It's been a struggle at times but the ability for us both to maintain our independence has been a huge part of our relationship's growth. We're both in our 40s and the "oh my God, I would die without him/her in my life" stage is well behind us.

Now, about your case ... I hate to tell you this but your lawyer might be giving you some misinformation. Your state senator cannot help you get your case number. He/she can only do exactly as you can do: ask for the status of your file.

I noticed the word errors in my first post to you. I shouldn't be allowed on the internet after a few beer. You need to get on this YOURSELVES. Whichever one of you is the U.S. citizen MUST call USCIS and request to speak with a Tier 2 immigration officer. When you get that IO, ask him to open a service request to locate your file.

I don't want to tell you you're wasting your money on a lawyer, because you may very well have a special case. I don't know. But if you're a straightforward K-1 case, you should be handling it on your own and saving some money for your wedding. :)

thank you lord just checked nvc says in transit now :) almost 3 months since uscis approval.

Yay!

Three months to the day of approval and we have our NVC case number.

So happy to hear many of those waiting have their cases sent on to the next step.

Another yay!

Call your congressperson. Tell them you've sent e-mail, gotten no response. Visit their local office if that doesn't work.

Try to talk to Tier 2 person at USCIS, put in a service request.

Set up infopass appointment at local USCIS office, see if they can be more helpful.

Just 3 suggestions for you.
