Haha, they seem to be behind in terms of updating cases online too! my interview is on 7/16 but online it still says "case is ready to be scheduled for interview"... I hope that if we get approved quickly they will update it quickly as well!

Also, flying back to JFK after 2 months in France with the advance parole was the easiest thing in the world: after the usual passport check and fingerprints check, they just take you to another room, there were a few other immigration agents and other people waiting. They took my passport, called my name less than 5 minutes later, and gave it back to me!

Good luck to everyone with the rest of the process!

Hey Seth!

That's good. I have a couple of friends who used the advance parole and both had no problems. I believe everyone has to go to secondary screening when it's AP, or anything "different".

Hello, I too have applied for a K1 AOS in Dec 2014. However in March I got a Notice of Interview Waiver and to call them if I dont have the card at the 6 month mark.

I just decided to look over the paperwork again..and dang it I sent everything in EXCEPT the marriage certificate.!!

How come they havent sent an RFE??? Any ideas?

Hey David,

That's weird! So, the only reasonable thought I have is that they must have confused your process with a family non-marriage based green card, which does not need interview.

They must have messed up bad. It's just a crazy idea. They make many mistakes.

Does it usually happen for them to waive interview on K1s? I never really see a waive of interview on marriafe based gcs. I would go for an infopass appointment.

Thanks for the response. Yes from what I have seen on VJ K1's AOS do get waivers. The USCIS is so backed up that I suppose they look at 'low-risk' applications and decide? IDK

David, you are going to subject yourself to a lot of confusion by posting and following along this sub-forum which is for those AOS from Student, Work, and Tourist Visas.

For those AOS from K-1, there is a different sub-forum where those like you are in the same processing procedures.

Hi,

My wife and I went to the green card interview in NYC this morning.

we arrived an hour early and it started 30 minutes late.

The agent was very nice. He swore us in before we sat.

he asked us if we had more things to add to the file: we gave pictures, travel itineries, hotel bills, joint lease, last rent payment, gym membership...

he asked us a few questions to my wife about me, my parents, my job, nothing crazy. how we met too.

then he asked me the Yes/No questions that are at the end of the I-485 file.

He also made me check the info on the file (if my name

was spelled correctly, if my ssn was right, etc...)

he gave us a letter with 4

possible outcomes on it which were basically:

1) need asditional documentation

2) case held due to background checks

3) case held for file review in order to prepare for a decision. no need to do anything, wait for decision or rfe in the mail.

4) case rescheduled for another interview

only the outcome 3 was checked.

He made a copy of my passport and my wife's ID, gave it back to us and that was it. no stamps, nothing, and je didnt ask for my EAD or I-94 either.

I wonder if that means that I can kiss the same day approval goodbye...

voilà!

Many people have reported here that, after such an experience similar to yours, they got text or email messages later the same day saying their Green Card was approved.

I think you will also get such a notification . . . unless you passed gas in the office, or some such !

It's been 28 days since my interview (7/16), case online still says "ready to schedule interview" since February so they obviously do not update cases online anymore... no text, no email, no letter, no news whatsoever... Yet on the statistics I found the average wait time for all offices in the US is around 14 days, 15 days in NYC, and many many many people have received a positive answer after only a few days...I'm starting to freak out a little...

has Anyone had their interview at the NYC office (federal plaza) recently?

thx
