Thanks, znl!

Things like:

What is his bank

About his military career

Who pays rent

Who bought the furniture

Who are these people on the picture

Why didn't you bring your savings from your country

Did you look for a house to buy

Who lives at your house

Did you live here before

Why did you get married so fast

Why did you buy a new car

Does your hubby make payments on his car

How much of rent does each of you pay

Etc.. She asked much more to him. She didn't ask me where we met, how was our wedding, where we worked, but she asked all that to him.

Congrats MrsHopkins!! Interesting that they separated you... I think they way they handle it really depends on the local office. Did you bring additional evidence and did they want to see anything? Or just asked questions?

Hi everyone, mazen1c, bibi and all, thank you for the best wishes, we were approved at our interview today!

Let me tell you, living with my husband for a year, in a happy and real relationship, we were given a little bit of a hard time! And he is in the military. They called him first, alone. About 30 min later she called me and he stepped out. Then she called him back and we were both in the room. She said we answered differently in 2 questions and she wanted to clear it up. In the end she asked again the questions and hubby ended uo matching my answers. She then said we were approved.

But my thoughts and final advice are be cool, calm and collected. Do study, do review every detail because you can get caught up forgetting stuff or mixing it up.

About 30 min after we left, received texts and emails of approval and card in production.

How long to receive it based on experiences?

MrsHopkins,

Congratulations!!! Thank you for the review about Manchester, we are still far away from the interview, but it's good to find some information about our local office.

Hi sunnyinca,

It is interesting, right? I guess it does depend on the office, the IO, it all always depends... I brought more evidence, definitely brought pictures and more evidence. They looked at the pics and used it but mostly they asked the questions to make sure we both answered the same.

Thanks, Lettyana! I know how you feel, I've been there. Manchester is small and nice office, hope you get the most laid back IOs. I definitely know that this office separates the couples, my friends who have been through the process were separated from their spouses. My advice is just to be ready, do not feel overly confident. Study each other, have financial things together like joint bank accounts or credit cards.

What is your RFE?

Thank you for all the advices! I really appreciate it.

Well our RFE about I-864 of course. They said his income doesn't meet the requirements, but it does. We don't have anyone who can be our joint sponsor, so I guess we will just try to send all the documents which prove his income again. We are waiting for new letter from his work, they are taking forever to give us one. I just hope they will accept us this time, otherwise I have no idea what else can we do.

Well our RFE about I-864 of course. They said his income doesn't meet the requirements, but it does.

Note: The processing officers generally just use a standard form when sending RFE's.

They don't take the extra time to specify exactly what they see as the problem. They just check a standard box which seems to be closest to what the situation is.

In your case, it is probably not that his income doesn't meet the minimum . . . but rather that they are not convinced that his income has been stable enough in the past or that there is not strong enough proof about the continuation of his income in the future.

Great advice, Leo. I agree. Maybe your hubby reaches the poverty line for 2 people (assuming just the 2 of you), but it did not satisfy them.

Thank you all guys for the advices. Well, his income for 2012 and 2013 was not enough, because he was taking care of his dying father, so he didn't work at all, we've attached the explanation letter about it. But he's been working on this job for almost a year now and his income should be enough.

Anyway we sent our response today, with a new employment letter, his last paystubs and bank statements. So all we have now is a hope that maybe they overlooked something last time or the employment letter wasn't clear enough. I guess all we have to do now is wait and hope, because we don't have any other options anyway.

If you have money in your country, it can be used. I did it.

No, i don't have the amount of money back at home, which could help us. We are both in our mid-twenties, so we haven't get any great jobs or real estate yet :(

Hi,

are there any december filers at the NYC office here ?

my priority date is 12/26, I received my EAD and AP card quickly (2/28) but my "case is ready to be scheduled for interview" since Feb 4th... I want to go back home until June 30th, do you think that's too risky and that the interview will take place before that date? Right now on the processing time information page of USCIS ( https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do), for the NYC office, it says that as of Feb 28th, the last case that the office completed was July 12th... If we consider that they receive and treat the same amount of cases every month throughout the years, that's a 7 and a half months delay between filing and approval for NYC December filers...

Hi Jason,

It is very common for that status to remains until they schedule your interview. Some people get a change to "ready to schedule" others simply get a straight interview schedule, like me. Hang in there and if you feel like they forgot about you, call or schedule an infopass.

I wouldn't trust that the interview will be scheduled before or after a certain date. Even if it is, nothing guarantees that they won't request other documents before approving or even if they will approve it (hopefully yes). Why don't you travel with your advance parole?

Thanks.

You are right, these dates on the USCIS website are not to be trusted, someone who was "ready to schedule for interview" since January 13th just got his date for May 22nd. I've been at that stage since February 4th so I should get my interview around mid June...

I'm about to schedule a trip back home then. Do you think it's safe to leave until July and just take a quick round trip to the US to take the interview once I know when it is ?

Thanks Mrs Hopkins. Congrats on you!! I would like to wait one more month to see if there would be any change to the status. May I ask at which office did you have your interview? Thanks. :)
