Hello Mrs. Hopkins,

Thanks for your advice. I think I will wait a little more then I will inquiry about my case. Good luck for your upcoming interview!

If the office is near you house I would go for an Infopass appointment. If it's far, maybe call them and say it's been 90 days! It's worth a try. Thank you and good luck to you! Hopefully next time you post will be with your interview date.

Yup, you have the SSN with that message because you got your # through an temporary employment authorization. In case your case did not get approved for the GC, you would only be able to work legally through the validity of your EAD card, that's why the note.

If you do not receive a new SSN with your GC, then you can just go to the SS office with your green card and request for an unrestricted card.

If you do not receive a new SSN with your GC, then you can just go to the SS office with your green card and request for an unrestricted card.

You will never receive a new SS card along with your GC.

The people who issue GC have nothing to do with people who issue SS cards.

And your SS number will never change, even as you can get a new paper copy

of the SS card that does not have the restriction.

Ok, there you go then. I thought so but I was not sure, so I did not want to say it. It definitely makes sense since we apply for a ssn at the ss office and we apply for the gc at uscis. Either way, you can go get the unrestricted card after!!

Leo777, mazen1ic, thank you for the answers. I'll keep this in mind.Good luck with your process!

MrsHopkins, thank you so much for your answer and all the information. I guess I'll just wait till my appointment date, if it not gonna be a really long wait.

She asked for itinerary and I said it was by car. So, if you decide to go, bring and itinerary or something to prove your trip.

I'm a little bit confused about this part though. Why do they need to know that? Maybe I misunderstood and you were talking about your New Year's trip, otherwise it sounds kinda weird of them to ask about it

Hey guys,

I'm a November filer but I prefer this thread so I am gonna ask a question here, if you guys don't mind it. :) I received my EAD some weeks ago, and I'm really about to start to work. How do you guys do the first step? My wife has worked at her job for a good while so she can't really help me about this. I don't even know how to write a proper resumé, lol. Are there agencies that I should get in touch with or how to take the first step? By the way, I used to be an English teacher in my country in Europe. Thanks.

Ok, I can explain. I went to the office prior to my biometrics appointment. The reason why I went is just because I am close to the office and it doesn't hurt to try to get your biometrics as soon as possible. When I got there, I told the officer I couldn't go for biometrics on the date of my appointment notice because I had a trip planned. That is why she asked for an itinerary and I said it was a trip by car because I didn't have any flight tickets or anything.

Hi Manch,

Well, a resume is easy to generate. Just grab a template online and kinda follow it... Don't make it too long but do put all awards and things that will make you look good. If you're looking for a good job, most times they will ask for an introduction or a cover letter. From what I've been reading it is interesting to write youre resume and cover letter specifically to the job and company you are applying for. It's not interesting to send out a bunch of generic resumes and cover letter. Tailor to the job. I've been searching too since I just got my EAD, I want to work from home, though. Harder to find a telecommute job! Good luck!

I have a feeling its something to do with New York, there are so many applicants in New York it seems the local offices get over loaded and can not cope, Also it seems like one of the local centers in NY has been closed for a few months which will also be delaying things. If you do make an inquiry kindly update us on the outcome.

P.S Some of the January filers have gotten their interview dates as well

Hi mayfield,

I also think New York is slower than some other offices. I think you're right in that it probably has to do with the number of applications they receive here... Looking at the timelines, it seems like New Yorkers who filed in October are having their interviews in March and April. I'm a little surprised, not very many New Yorkers seem to be on visajourney! I was hoping to have our interview in May, but it seems more like June... We will see!

Thanks Mrs. Hopkins!

I just don't really know where to look. Indeed.com or are there agencies where it's worth dropping off my resume? I'm kind of an uncertain type.

By the way, I can confirm that there are delays in New York, based on my experience. I filed in November and my interview hasn't even been scheduled yet. Sounds like a really long process...
