couple of months ago I have received checklist for not submitting original marriage and birth certificate. Along with these documents NVC ask for police clearance also. Otherwise they leave no stone to give Checklist. Actually I was under the impression that my attorney had submitted original but he didn't. Also when I got checklist NVC asked me to submit Police clearance also. Best call them and ask if you any confusion.

I called today, and was told that this was just changed like 3 weeks ago, so before then, originals were needed.

I called and spoke to three different people at nvc to make sure I got the same response to this question last week. All three said the process just changed, civil docs don't need to be the original, but the originals must be present at the time of interview.
