Hi Everyone!

I am a new member to the forum and was recommended to this site by a friend who has recently married her long-distance love and has been through this process!

My name is Shazza and the love of my life lives in NY.

Unfortunately I live in Australia and am unable to spend each day with my soulmate, hence why we have applied for the K1 fiancee visa!

My partner was here in Australia in October so we quickly put together our application and sent it in when he returned home.

So far I don't have much news re. the visa;

We have received the USCIS Acceptance confirmation email and the following letter receipt notice (Form I-797).

I am under the assumption that we are not going to hear anything new for a while and that the visa will be at the USCIS Texas service centre for at least the next few months.

Unfortunately I am experiencing difficulties in checking my case status as when I enter my receipt number an error message appears saying: 'At this time USCIS cannot provide you with information for your case. Please contact the NCSC 1 (800) 375-5283 for additional information.'

I have also tried calling with my receipt no. and receipt the same automated message.

I have been reading through some of the forums and can see that this is a common issue that people are having at the moment so hopefully it is nothing to be too concerned about?

Anyway, I just thought i would introduce myself and update people on my situation :)

Good night from Australia! :clock:

Hello,

One thing I can tell you is if you are reasonable and rational, you will benefit so much that at some point you will realize this was a good thing you did joining this site while going through brutal immigration or other processes.

To start with K1, I would recommend to read contents on these two links:

This will give you some idea on the overall process and approximate timeline. Be aware this isn't bible and talks about general guideline. Each case is different and people end up with different experiences for reasons. Being prepared and proactive will help you to get out of this process in a reasonable time.

For now, don't worry, just keep checking every other day. Usually they run system updates and at times the system acts bit funny. Also end of the year, God knows what they are doing. Best would be if the petitioner can call keeping all info ready and only if he can reach an operator he may find an answer. I would recommend calling early in the morning and trying few times before getting frustrated (that happens a lot to all of us :-) )

Good luck

Welcome to the forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Ok Quick update:

I created an account on the USCIS website the other day to track my case and i selected to receive email updates.

This morning i opened my email and found an update that said that my case status has changed to 'received' and that we will receive a receipt notice (which we have already received- the first one anyway).

Anyway so the reason why i'm excited is because i can FINALLY check my case status on the website without an error message and I'm super excited because hopefully that means the wheels are in motion!
