Woooh! Fiancé got our Case Number today :-)

Said they just got our petition yesterday and it'll take 2-4 weeks for the embassy here in the Phils to receive it. I'll probably check after a week :-)

NVC number is not required to do the medical exam...you need the MNL#. there's alot of thread on VJ discussing this..

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/433332-hard-copy-from-nvc/

Seems like most people never get a "hard copy" from NVC

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/533082-when-can-someone-expect-the-nvc-hardcopy/

We never received a hard nor a soft copy of anything from the NVC. Just got the MNL# after doing NVC calling nightmare and went from there.

What's an NVC number? Or did the OP mean the same numbers as the MNL# (that's my guess; MNL is for Philippine filers).

I should add, when I called NVC (and finally got thru to a human being), he said the would be emailing confirmation of our MNL# number to both me and my fiancé, respectively. We doublechecked and he had the correct email addresses. He said to expect the email "within about a week." lol. You can guess what didn't happen next.

The guy I spoke to as well reconfirmed our e-mail addresses as well. Didn't ask and he didn't tell me why though.

Yeah they also confirmed our emails too. I guess they just wanna make sure they're talking to the right person. But we never received any email or hardcopy from NVC and it's been almost 2-3 wks already lol.

Yes MHL is short for manilla. MHL is the city abbreviation for the city like LA los angeles lol. The rest of us only need to care about the invoice number, and case number to fill out your DS160 forms online as it says when you check your status on the CEAC site.

Hello! And congratulations to everyone whose cases are moving quickly - looks like December was a great month to file at CSC for most!

Our NOA2 notice date was January 15; we still haven't heard anything from the NVC. Reading through some of your processes and timelines, I'm realizing that it's possible our application could have been processed and in transit without us knowing...or stuck there, which I would also like to know :)

Is calling NVC the only way to know if NVC received our case, to know our case number, and to know where we are at in the process?

Thanks in advance!

They are supposed to send a letter, but rarely do. Best bet is to call them. They're still open, give it a go!

I actually received the NVC hardcopy confirmation letter today in the mail. But all it had was our case number, USCIS receipt number, applicant name, petitioner name and interview location (beneficiary embassy) which i already knew just by calling NVC directly. So yeah the NVC hard copy is pretty useless info for those waiting to get one. You'll definitely get the case number faster just by calling them. The date on the letter was 1/29 but the postmark wasn't until 2/4 either

To date neither myself nor my fiancé even received an NVC email, let alone a hard copy letter. Ergo, had I not called the NVC (no small task), we'd still be waiting for our MNL#. If you manage to get thru on the phone, however, they'll give you not only your #, but the date NVC received your Petition, and the date the assigned your number--although strictly speaking, those dates are of no import.

Turns out we "wasted" 10 days, as our # was assigned 10 days prior to my calling and getting thru to NVC.

Continued best wishes for all fellow December filers!

See this about reading the case number. It's pretty much 01 = Jan and LND = London as to when the info was entered into the system.
