Just curious when we might expect to receive the visa with an interview date of Dec 17 will my fiance have it by Dec 31? I know they say two weeks but what has been the average wait??

They say 2 weeks because that's probably the average time it takes. Plus, Christmas means more days that the embassy is closed/staff are away visiting family. I'd err on the side of caution.

* I-130/CR-1 visa by Direct Consular Filing in London
3rd May 2013 - Married in London

7th May 2013 - I-130 filed
4th June 2013 - NOA2 (approved)
16th July 2013 - Interview (approved)
30th July 2013 - POE San Francisco
29th August 2013 - 2 year green card arrived

* How? Read my DCF London I-130 for CR1/IR1 Spouse Guide

* Removal of Conditions (RoC) via California Service Centre
1st May 2015 - 90 day RoC window opened
6th May 2015 - I-751 filed (delivered 8th May, cheque cashed 18th May)
7th August 2015 - Approved / GC production

27th August 2015 - 10 year green card arrived

* Naturalisation (Citizenship) via Phoenix Lockbox

* San Francisco Field Office:
1st May 2016 - N-400 window opened
20th August 2016 - N-400 filed

26th August 2016 - NOA1
13th September 2016 - Biometrics

12th January 2017 - Biometrics (again)
30th May 2017 - Interview (approved)
7th June 2017 - Oath

I wouldn't make any plans until it's in hand, but I really do hope you get to spend New Years with your other half. I have my fingers crossed for you! And if you don't, just remember there's always next year and every single year after that.

It seems as the majority of people have the visa in hand within 5-7 days.....I am feeling pretty confident we will have it by 12/31! So far we have been very lucky.....NVC had our file within 6 days from NOA2 at CSC....embassy had our medical file within 4 days even with one day being Thanksgiving.....and now interview being scheduled within two weeks of medical....guess I am a gambler :-)

I had my medical on the 19th and it says that I had a updated status on the 28th like you. I am going to ring the nvc tomorrow what was the number you used? Fingers crossed I'll get my date real soon :(

Im on the 9th working day since my interview and still no visa. My status has been updated to issued but still nothing. I was supposed to fly out this past weekend and my wedding is booked for saturday the 13th. I think the chance of me making it are getting slimmer.

So sorry to hear that news! I find it so frustrating whenever I see such inconsistencies with dates and waiting times. Some people have their visas within 5 days and others wait almost two weeks...ugh! Wish you the best....hope it gets to you soon! Did you have it mailed or sent to a depot? It seems faster to have it delivered to depot than home address.....

Yeah i feel the same, I know someone who went around the same date as me and had the visa in hand 6 days later. Im trying not to worry too much but weve paid for the wedding and trip to California.

I thought itd be quicker to send to my home address, but i agree now, Depot seems much faster.

Hope you get the visa as quickly as possible, good luck!

My money is on Thursday.

Somebody posted a while back that by the time you get the email, the visa is at the depot. Might want to call when you have a tracking number and try to pick it up. No clue if that is always true, but you might try it. The depot phone numbers are all posted near the end of the pinned K1 London thread. And be confident.. Not "would it be okay if" but rather "I am in a crunch for time and need to collect my delivery immediately because it contains my passport. Please check to see if it is on your premises."

I find that stating what I want usually works out better for me. Yesterday I was at Walmart and needed a certain lighted garland to replace 1 of 4 I had. I found one unboxed thrown on a shelf, no tag, no price. Knowing it was Walmart I assumed I would get "sorry, I don't know how to ring it, so you can't buy it."

I waited behind a family buying about 300 items and my back was aching. When it was my turn I put on my sad, tired face and said, "I have searched every row and shelf and there are none like this, and no shelf markers. I need it! I want you to make up a price." I even told her those over there are are $12.95 and this is much nicer. Got it for $4 97. Happy.

Thursday is no good for me really, i want to fly to Vegas with the rest of the party which means id have to be in florida by friday afternoon.

I contacted the embassy and they said the passport has been issued and sent to the courier. I emailed the courier people at the same time and they cant find any evidence of it on their system.

I think i might give them a call then, thanks for the advice on where to locate the numbers.

I find it a little odd that the embassy is saying one thing and the courier company are saying another. I need the passport in my hand to fly out by 2moro at the latest.

And congrats on the walmart success! :)

So i got an email from the Embassy saying the passport has been passed to the courier. Then i contact the courier and they have no record of it at all, claiming its still being processed by the embassy. Not sure whos telling the truth but i dont think the embassy would say its been issued if it has not. Any advice on what to do?

I am in the same boat currently.

Have you heard any more from the embassy or the courier?
