help

is anyone out there from New Jersey? DMV seems to work differently

in every state and it looks like NJ has the toughest

My wife has K1/I94 stamped on her passport but it expires in 45 days,

we have our AOS Receipt notice but thats it right now, and she is stuck

at home until we can get driving

the NJ DMV is refusing to issue permit because the K1/I94 expires in

less than 60 days, even though USCIS Assures us that she is legalling

in the country even after the I94 expires

but their "Receipt" letter doesn't really specify that, and the NJ DMV

just doesn't seem to be synched up with what USCIS has given

Has anyone else in New Jersey been in this spot and resolved, our only plan of

solution in the works right now is an infopass appointment to talk to an

Immigration Officer with USCIS to see if they can provide something that

will make the NJ DMV happy, but this appt seems a stretch to me

any help, please, thank you (New Jersey only please, other states responses won't help)

In CO I needed a EAD before I could get a US License.

Most States are similar, some do accept the NOA, but that is unusual.

Can she not drive on her home country license?

I had to wait until I got my interim EAD, which happened after 4 months after I moved here (the 1 year EAD took 7 months to reach). NJ wouldn't give me a license until I had EAD or GC.

Now, 2.5 years later, my conditional GC is about to expire and also my license (NJ wouldn't give me a License for 5 years, they only give 3 months more than your EAD expiration or your GC expiration date) and I don't think they will renew it with only the NOA letter.

I'm sorry, it's very frustrating. The only good thing is that I didn't need to take the road test.

Good luck, though.
