Moving to Canada

Hi All,

This is my first forum post so please bare with me.

My wife and I got married on Aug. 6, 2012. After we got married I filed a petition so that she can move here and she was able to come down on Oct. of 2013. She now has been here for over a year and since then we had a baby boy. Now she misses her family and would like to move back to Canada. Is this possible and how would I go about following her?

We have had members do this. If both of you can wait a bit longer get her to naturalize. Canada has no issues with it. If you move with out naturalization she will lose her Permanent resident (gc).

It's 3 yrs as a permanent resident and 3 yrs of marriage. Look at her green card and see what her resident since date is. From your post it looks like she has approx 2 more yrs before she can apply.

Some other Canadians that moved back didn't want to wait they left and abandoned their card. If you do go this route get your FBI check before you leave it seems to be the hardest part to do after.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
