Has anyone has to deal with name being misspelled before? Not sure what to do now :sleepy: Can I start calling NVC after 3 days or is that way too soon??

they actually had my fiances name wrong in the system - like totally messed up, last name and first name switched, with middle initials in wrong places. We would never have been able to tell because on the NOA1 it looks fine it us (spelling wise), but they say it is wrong, so hey, not gonna argue. Thank god they fixed it the day before we got NOA2. But it was simple enough - call and tell them We ddnt have to send anything. I mean, they have birth certificates/ passport copies with both our names on them in the correct way to look at and fix it.

No we havent done any of that yet.. and I dont know if I should. We have reviewed the forms, and have all the info ready to be filled out... but havent proceeded with sending them in yet. I beleive that is all included with Packet 3, and since we technically havent received, I dont want to complicate by sending items they havent asked for yet.

Good thinking, my fiance and I are waiting as well for the case to get to the embassy before filling them out. Chances are your case will get there by friday :)

Thanks Mena, I called them but the case is already on its way to NVC so they said even thought they can change it on their end, I would have to deal with NVC on my own so I will attempt to call later to see if the case is there yet. How is everything going with you?

I thought I´d share hoping doing it at NVC level is as easy as at USCIS level :-D

I do have to give USCIS a little bit of credit though, because it was them who figured out it was wrong in the first place - we would never have been able to tell. Of course, someone there also put in into the system wrong...

Pretty well, thanks - waiting for the petition to get to NVC right now - it got sent yesterday, so lets see how long it takes!

I just want this to be over so I can stop waiting for things to happen that block everything else if they dont happen...

I have been reading so many horrific stories here about cases being lost and all that i got myself so nervous and freaked out. I was able to get thru NVC without much trouble yesterday and today and my case isnt there yet (as expected) but still got me nervous a little.

so now I heard from 2 people saying that it does not need to be lol. Did you email the embassy to get packet 3? that is usually the fastest way.

Just when I thought everything was done with TSC, but nooo, they had my name misspelled on the approval notice so i had to call them to fix it but the case has already been sent to NVC. Now I am told I have to contact NVC so they could fix it as well.

Questions: after how long did you contact NVC to get the case number after it has been sent to NVC?? It has been 3 days so far, so not sure if I am too early.

Morning! I received a letter from NVC yesterday with instructions on what to do next... within the letter it stated this:

"Documents in foreign languages, other than the language of the country in which the application takes place, should be translated. Applicants should take to the visa interview clear, legible photocopies of civil documents and translations, such as birth and divorce certificates. Original documents and translations will be returned."

So it appears that if the county you are interviewing with speaks the same language that your documents are in, you do not need to translate. However, if you documents are in a different language than the country, they will need to be translated.

That is great! Based on that email, it looks like no translation needed. Thanks for letting me know :)

Is that packet 3 that you received? so that means your case is the embassy? I am trying to get a timeline as to when my case will get to NVC. It has been 5 days since it was sent. How long did it take for you?

I dont think it was the packet 3. I think that goes to my fiance. He hasnt received that yet.

This was just a letter from NVC stating they sent my case to the embassy, which I already knew last week.(lag time!) It stated what the next step was to go online and fill out form DS-160 and gather my docs. We still have to wait for Packet 3, but by the time it comes we will have gathered everything by then.

The time from Service Center to NVC was very fast, NOA2 was dated Aug 7, and on Aug 13th I received email that TSC sent case to NVC. I received letter yesterday that NVC sent to Embassy. I know the letters come a few days after it has actually been done.. so it goes pretty fast.

On Islamabad embassy's website it also states that no translation is required when you bring in a document in the local language however when I received the packet 3.5, it was mentioned specifically that my civil documents (including birth certificate) should be translated in English. They do not accept civil documents in the local language at least in Pakistan.

from what I've read here, it i best to email to receive packet 3, apparently some people never receive it in the mail or they take a long time to come in the mail. But you are almost done with everything , so yayy :)

I think I might be stressing too much about this process :sleepy:

trust me when I say my fiance says constantly that i stress over this too much! I just figured I worry more than him anyway...

I did email the embassy and ask about Packet 3 and they stated they would send a letter to my fiance regarding the next steps. That was on Wednesday, and of course yesterday, I (not my fiance) got a letter for him to go online and to complete DS-160 and to start to gather documents. I am thinking that will be the same letter he (my fiance) gets.

You should be hearing something any day. Have you been calling NVC?
