10 mnths and two days from NOA1. No RFE.

They relized they had his name wrong. it was just totally weird because to us it didnt look wrong on the NOA1, it had the same format as mine, but they say it was. Then they fixed it and then they approved us.

Has anyone tried calling the NVC lately? When I call I get an automated message that the customer service reps are busy helping other customers, Call back later. and basically hangs up after repeating in Spanish.... (????) How long has it been giving this message? I have tried early morning, during the day, and late in the evening. All the same message. Is there any other way to know if your case has been received, and when does it get sent off to the embassy in my fiance's country. Just trying to figure whats next.... <_<

Thanks in advance! :)

It has been always like that I believe. Just have to keep calling. I felt the same as you when I got this message each time I called. But one day (around 7:30am est) I got a message that they were helping other customers and told to hold. I was on hold for 30 minutes, but was able to get my case number, and was told that our application was sent to the US embassy managing my fiancée s visa. Keep trying. Almost there :)

What is the next step after receiving No2? I am so confused. All the info I find here and in bits and pieces. I know I have to wait about 2 weeks to get case number and all. So when can I start fill out DS 160 and I-134? Is there anything else to fill out? What do I do in the meantime?

Omg Congrats! We were just talking about your case yesterday. I pray and hope I'm next .

thank you :) I keep you in my prayers as well. trust me I know how you feel. I called the 800 number almost everyday. have you tried that? I finally got someone to tell me if my case was being worked on Tuesday. Try to call and get a tier 2, ask that you want to know if anything is happening with your case. if you get a nice person they will tell you

Ok Thanks! I will keep trying. =) Will they eventually send a notice that it has been sent to the embassy? (just in case I never get through on the phone?) I just dont want to be waiting, if there is something we can be doing in the meantime.. I dont know if it is NVC or the Embassy that tells us the next step...

Congrats on your recent approval. and here are the next few steps

1/ within a week USCIS will send your case to the NVC

2/ give it about another week to even call the NVC for your new case number and the invoice number ( in my case was 7 days)

3/ you can then check your status at ceac.state.gov ( aslo remember to ask the NVC when is the estimate time they will send your petition to the consulate)

4/ as soon as you get your new case number you can go ahead and create a profile at ustraveldocs.com. From here you can fill out the DS-160. Make sure to print out the confirmation paper. You can then go ahead take the cash deposit intructions and the DS-160 confirmation paper to pay for the fee ( check out where to pay. Its different in every country). Once your fiancee pay the fee and get the receipt. You'll need it to schedule her interview.

Keep checking your status at ceac.state.gov because once they change it to "ready". I would go ahead and submit the inquiry to receive packet 3 by email. It's just a letter along with their instruction how to do all the things I just typed above for you. I would aslo give it a few days to make sure that the consulate have the actual case. Your fiance then will have to mail the DS-160 confirmation paper, along with her 2x2 picture and copy of her passport to the consulate.

I hope this helps.

yay! congrats on your approval, waiting4areason!

regarding your question - youd have to ask somebody from Haiti, I think, or check the embassy page. Like for my country I am pretty sure you can bring stuff in either English or German, both is fine.

Hi guys, for those who are at the interview stage already, or if anyone knows, does the Birth certificate of my fiance needs to be translated when bringing at the interview or would it be fine if we just bring the original and a copy??

Hi waiting4areason! Sorry I dont have an answer for you, but I am interested in the answer to this question. My fiance original birth country is Haiti, although he lives on Montreal now. His birth certificate is in French. But since Montreal is French speaking, so I dont know if it needs to be translated, or any/all of his documents need to be translated to English! I just assumed French would be okay, since Montreal (Embassy) is french speaking also. Anyone know??

Im pretty sure everything has to be translated to English...the embassy workers are not the only ones who will need to be able to read them, the packet the docs are put into after the interview are handed over at the border and I believed used through the AOS process so they are all required to be translated.

I have bedn asking around, so far I have not had any answer regarding that. I will contact a few more people on here, as soon as I know I will let u know as well. For Haiti we need the "Extrait d'archives" from the National archives which is different than the birth certificate. So I am not sure if we need to translate it. I looked online but it just says to bring it with a copy as well. It did not mention anything about translation, I wonder if it is implied ?

Thanks Mena ☺ I will keep asking around to see if anyone know.

How's everyone doing? This thread has been quiet☺ no news is good news right?

Thesuitelady, i was able to find out a little bit more about the extrait d'archive. I have found 3 people telling me that they had it translated. And one telling me that it is not necessary and I am waiting on one more person. So I am still unsure but to be on the safe side we might just have it translated. Hope this helps. Good luck ☺

Yes, that is what I decided. But to just go ahead and get it translated. I would never want to give them any reason to delay this any longer!! It is better for us to give them want they ask for and then some!!

I am waiting for my fiance to receive Packet 3.. i checked ceac.state.gov and status is now showing Ready... but the packet 3 letter says we still cant scheduled interview... I feel like we should be doing something, and not just waiting... but i was told the Montreal consulate would send us further info...not really sure what to do!

How's it going for you?
