Do you have pay off your credit cards once you leave the country?

I know that if you are a citizen with Israel and become a US citizen you do not loose your citizenship with Israel. I believe you are allowed to have double citizenship and it's only with Israel. Since he'll be a citizen of both countries ( hopefully) should he still pay off his credit cards?

There is no VISA issue with his debts. Of course, you should always pay your debts in accordance with the agreements, but his debts have nothing to do with receiving a VISA.

I still have my credit cards from Canada as well. I didn't have any balances owing when I moved to the U.S., but I did give them my U.S. address so they can send my statements whenever I do use them.

it kind of contradicts what you said. You said there is no visa issue, and then you said have nothing to do with receiving visa.

I think he meant that whether or not you pay your debt, has nothing to do with a visa being issued. Your debt is still your debt and your responsibility.

Same here. Now, I still have 1 credit card from Indonesia that I might use on emergency when I moved. I paid off balances before I moved and left money in my Indonesian bank account to cover any emergency use during the trip. My parents kept all the statement for me.

There is nothing contradictory in that sentence at all. Unless you are getting confused between 'Visa' (travel document your fiance will need to come to the US and marry you) and 'VISA' (a type of credit card on which he presumably might owe large amounts of money).

He should definately pay off his credit card debt. However, he doesn't have to pay it all off before he goes if he can't afford to. I'm sure he can make online payments, or set up an arrangement while he is in the states.
