I thought of that. But I have to take a full load (12 hours as opposed to 9 for graduate studies), and with international tuition rates, it's still about $5000. I don't have that.

Realistically speaking, you are out of luck. You can't file a divorce, and you can't afford the expensive international student tuition. Maybe you should return to your country and make enough money and come back. Even if you can get your F1 visa renewed, you won't be able to afford it and you will probably stop going to school and you will become out of status again.

I assume there is no way to speed up reinstatement?

If your wife wants nothing to do with you and does not want to file green card paperwork for you, why would she help you get out of your country?

Zombie - if I get my F-1 renewed, I can easily afford it because I have funding from my department. it's just that if I do reinstatement I can't work until it is decided. I hope I get back in.

So why do you need your wife to get you back in???

You are not telling us the whole story. Why do you want get back together with her when she refused to file papers for you? She obviously doesn't love you enough to file the papers for you. It doesn't sound right. Why are you sticking with her?

Because you were telling me that I'm not going to be able to get back in on student credentials.

But the possibility of getting back to the U.S through your wife is just so unrealistic and highly impractical.
