I'm about ready to buy flight tickets for my parents to visit me in the US, but I have some concerns. I would like to buy them round trip tickets, but I don't know yet how long my parents would get the length of stay in the US. Also, if I buy one way tickets, I'm worry the the officer in the port of entry (airport) won't let them in since they don't have returning tickets yet. My question is, which one should I go with; round trip or one way tickets?

If any of you ever have experience like this, please do share.

I'm looking forward to some responses here, and appreciate it a lot for your time to help me out!

Thank You!

On a visitor visa they must have a round trip ticket. Why would you buy a ticket before them getting a ticket or knowing how long it will be. Just wait until the interview is over then act accordingly.

Answer for that; the U.S. embassy approved their visa already, but I'n not sure yet how long my parents would stay, either 3 or 6 months. If I buy round trip for 6 months, what if the immigration just give them 3 months of stay? That's way I confuse either buy round trip ticket or one way.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciated!

Surely you would wait to secure the b2 visa before buying the ticket?

If they already have the visa then hatvdid they answer when asked 'when are you planning to visit the US and for how long?'

They answered was about 3 months

Oh okay. Congratulations on their approval. I would play it safe and do 3 months. If they get more great extend change it. Get tickets you can change (open-ended) with a small fee.

Purchase round trip tickets that your parents intend to stay, and if they are given 6 months and you want them to stay around for over a little of 3 months you can call up the airline to have the date (flight back) changed. Some airlines charge you but some gives you options as to which date is free of charge.

*based on my experience as I extended my stay (which was supposed to be only 1.5 months and when I was allowed 6, I stayed til it was around 4 months) when I first went there as for me spending time with family is never enough. :) The airline I got was Korean Airlines, free of charge for changing the dates.
