Thank you! Question for you since your husband is Egyptian, when completing forms for him, how was his name provided? My husband has 5 names, his first/given name, then his fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers names, and finally his family/surname. Does your husband have multiple names like my husband? If so, where did he apply the names for his father, grandfather and great grandfather? Was it with the given names or the surnames?

Thank you so much! It might not be an expedite approval, but it certainly feels good to start to move forward again!

Hi Maharosa! I'm not from Egypt, now even my husband, but here in Brazil it's common we have a lot of families name (I have my first name, my grandmother mom side family name, my grandmother fathers side family name and my grandfather father side family name). Anyways, in my passport, all of those names are considered last names/surnames (so I have 3 surnames). I don't have middle name and my first name is only one. So, I think you should check your husbands passport because it might have a hint there, and you fill the forms exactly like it says in the passport.

Hope I could help. :)

I have five names including given (first) and family (last) names. In my passport, the three middle names are only initialied. In all my immigration forms I only used my first name, first middle initial and last name. Some forms required full middle name. In this case I only included the first middle name.

Different countries (and US Posts) might have different rules.

Thank you so much for your response! I think I might have figured out what to do. I did already check his passport and it is displayed as "full name" and then lists all 5 names. My husband personally treats his linage names as 3 middle names but the the DS-261 does not have an option for middle names. All of his siblings also have the three "middle" names which is why I felt kind of confused as to what to do. I checked my dads Egyptian passport also and his is the same, just says full name. My dads drivers license here in the US grouped the three linage names under the middle name. Looking at my US passport, my middle name is listed under the given names. Based on this, I think I would be safe listing his middle names following his first name in the given names field.

Did you run into any issues with the names not being an identical match between your passport and forms? The instructions state to list all the names in your passport. Maybe I am mistaken, but I think using all of his names may also help differentiate him between anyone else that may have the same first and last name as him still living in Egypt.

Maybe I am mistaken, but I think using all of his names may also help differentiate him between anyone else that may have the same first and last name as him still living in Egypt.

I think you should definitely list all names when it states "write your name as it appears on the passport", but I can't help you much more with that. What I can tell you is that my name is First Second LAST, where Second is the name I actually go by (a common thing in Argentina and other places). For this reason I didn't want to list Second as a middle name (feared it would disappear), so I wrote "First Second" as a first name... but ahaha, according to the CEAC site, Second has disappeared. They have me as LAST First... oh well, I tried. I will need to see how the name appears on my visa/green card.

Hi everyone. I haven't been involved in the nvc discussion for some time, as I was with my husband in his country in the weeks leading up to his interview. I remember some of you from nvc discussions in the summer though, like soloenta and samreen, and I'm glad to see that your processes are moving along.

Even though I'm not offically nvc any longer, I'm in need of some moral support and maybe advice if anyone has any.

My husband had his interview in November, the 13th, to be precise, and they told him it was approved and to sign up for an account on ustraveldocs.com to register for delivery... He couldn't figure it out, and asked me to do it, and finally I got some help here on VJ and created a profile for him on the 18th of November.

So we have been waiting anxiously for his visa, and started to get pretty worried last week... the embassy is really not anxious to give much information... when I first wrote to them they told me to contact the courier, but the phone number that they sent didn't work. After I pointed this out, and sent a few more e-mails, they told me to contact the customer service for ustraveldocs.com. MEanwhile the account on ustraveldocs says the embassy still has the passport. I called a few times, and was generally rebuffed, but finally someone in the American citizen services department said they would contact the visa people and find out what was going on. That was yesterday. A few hours later I got e-mail where they finally admitted that they had given the passport to the courier on the 17th of November, and reiterated that I would have to contact ustraveldocs customer service, that they (the embassy) can't do anything more... meanwhile, I have been trying to contact customer service... they don't answer the chat, at least not for 3 hours, and when you call the phone number the recording says it's not during their operating hours, even though it is. I sent them an e-mail explaining the situation, and got something from a no-reply address saying they had created an account with my e-mail address. (I used my husband's address for his account.) So I don't know what to do... does anyone have any ideas? Is there some state department phone number to address issues with ustraveldocs.com? Is there somewhere else on VJ I could post where someone might have experience with this sort of thing? I very disturbed that they couldn't tell me for 3 weeks that they had already given it to the courier... what a mess! what can we do?

First of all...

So...I really don't know how to help you! It seems like a courier trouble, and here in Brazil we have a different courier for embassy deliveries...but do you have a kind of central building of this courier in your town? And a track number?mbecause you can go there and check it out...

I'm really sorry you're passing through it, hope everything gets solved quickly.
