Why shouldn't a CEO earn more? It sounds like your ideal system would be communism where everyone earns the same pay.

Bringing top executive pay back in line and within reason does not equate to communism. It's just putting an end to the insanity that top executive pay has turned into. These guys get hundreds of millions regardless of company performance, they jack up their pay packages as the companies they work for file for bancruptcy protection and as they have courts order the rank and file staff to tighten their belts and even when they are fired for having completely failed the company. How is that to be justified?

Then it is up to the government to legislate such measure to ensure corruption does not occur or can go unpunished.. Australia now holds directors and executives personally liable if they are found to have swindled the companies money. This means all of their personal assets can be seized and sold..

On the same note, you cannot sit here and blame management for what they are earning. If it is excessive, the shareholders can voice their concerns. Other employees have the freedom to change jobs if they feel they are being short changed..

Once again it is up to the individual to improve their skills. Most smart companies offer their staff quite a few decent incentives.. Take google for example..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Agreed. The part I've bolded is what doesn't make sense to me. Not everyone starts out in the lower class. Some of us start out with trust funds and a huge cushion. That person doesn't have to work very hard to get what they want. Are you really saying things are no easier for that person than someone with the same goal who has two kids, a crappy education from a poor public high school, and bills to pay?

The situation in the US is quite complicated. For starters, the school system is a bit of a mess and needs to be modernized. I would personally get rid of the county school system or at the very least break up a state into districts. Imagine the money the school system would save in terms of saved administration costs. Money which could be pumped into other schools and students. The other side of the story is that some people do not want to change or improve.

I was in NYC the other week and noticed how so many people who have little or nothing and probably no education are living in the city. It does not take a genius to realize they will never ever break that cycle, living there. Why not move to places where there are more jobs?? Why not clean up your act instead of wearing clothes that 99.9% of the developed world laughs at??

Like many, my parents boarded a ship for over a month and traveled to other prosperous nations with little more than the clothes on their back. That is, at a time when there where absolutely no government benefits for the poor. Yet through perseverance and extremely hard work they have built a great life for themselves and their kids.

Here you have a person trying to be positive and optimistic yet some of you guys just want to cut him down..
