So if the checklist was from aos unit there could be checklist from IV unit separate? Omg!

Im not sure how they work cause on aos checklist part 6 line 13.a.1 but I found 2 more errors they didnt mention on checklist. I did correct them anyway and add a cover letter and explained.

It depends on the operator and what THEY mean by the word. It could either be someone is actually reviewing it RIGHT NOW, or that it's simply on someone's desk to be reviewed shortly. But, hopefully you hear something soon. Keep an eye on that portal ;)

They have different departments to review the different packages (one for AOS, one for IV). And they may possibly have a third just for checklists, who knows (I'd love to know though).

If they do have a separate one for checklists, that would be another reason why there's a slightly shorter time for checklists as there would be fewer checklists than original packages.

Thanks for the reply! If they have different people for AOS & IV package, how do they separate them when I sent them together?

Just realize that NVC follows a first in first out policy but can't control delays and manual processing that papers will have to take. It's sometimes hard for me to remember that there are plenty of other cases that aren't on Visa Journey and they have to be processed as well.

I've seen some cases take the full 60 days and others that only take 48 - You also have to account that all of the ones that have been approved after October 23rd on VJ are checklists - checklists are being resolved faster than 1st scanned packages because lets face it - they've been waiting longer :)

I guess I am lucky. Mine is a checklist for DS260 Civil Documents. So they already reviews and cleared my DS260 form AOS package and IV package. All they requested is Georgian police certificate for my wife. so I am really keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get a checklist. I don't know what am I gonna do if they send me one more checklist. God help me if I get one more checklist.

My thoughts in regards to scan dates and such:

NVC isn't ever on just one specific date. It'll always be a range of dates, because there's more than just one person reviewing files. And although NVC roughly follows the first in, first out procedure, it's the same process as USCIS. An officer will take a bunch of files, then review those. Then take another pile, review those. Etc etc. Due to this, if one officer is faster than another, then he'll be working on later dates than someone who's slow and still working on earlier dates, thus giving a range of dates.

Also, in regards to time frames between regular packages and checklists, keep in mind: when reviewing checklists, they just review the new documents submitted and verify if everything is correct now, compared to the original package where they have to make sure everything is right.

So, just my two cents ;)

I hope a more efficient officer got my case.... :) I am going nuts here waiting. It's harder and harder to wait as it gets closer to CC... hoping this week will be kind to me...

Someone HELP!

We are filing on my husband (petitioners) assets alone. We received the so called 'checklist' regarding no meeting fanancial requirements here is the excerpt:

The NVC has received the information you have submitted in reference to
the Affidavit of Support. Please be advised that the Affidavit of Support
information you have provided does not appear to meet the minimum
income requirement according to the current poverty guidelines to sponsor
the intending immigrant(s) for this petition. The consular officer will make
a decision regarding this requirement at the time of your interview. In
order to avoid delays, you may wish to submit an additional Affidavit of
Support (Form I-864) for a/another Joint Sponsor to the National Visa
Center to assist in sponsoring the intending immigrants. To view the
current poverty guidelines, visit
If you decide to use a Joint Sponsor to assist in sponsoring the intending
immigrants, please note that you the sponsor may not use Form I-864EZ
and will also need to submit Form I-864.
I remember reading someone getting the same email regarding them only submitting assets and I think someone confirmed that it was a CC and we need to bring the documents to the embassy *BUT* I need to confirm...
I'm trying to get through the NVC right now but was hoping fellow NVC'ers could help faster than I can get a rep on the phone to calm my down my anxiety.

So if the checklist was from aos unit there could be checklist from IV unit separate? Omg!

I know there's at least an AOS unit and an IV unit. What I'm unsure about is if there's a separate checklist unit, or the checklist gets sent to the respective AOS/IV unit, depending which package it's for.

Thanks for the reply! If they have different people for AOS & IV package, how do they separate them when I sent them together?

Well, hopefully you're separating the two packages when mailing them. I always recommend putting the AOS package in its own manila envelope. Then the IV package in its own manila envelope. Then writing on each envelope what package it is. Then putting the two manila envelopes in the mailing envelope.

But if you don't do that, it's easy enough for them to separate. I'm assuming there's people that work in the mail room that open up each package, then separate it if needed based on what forms/documents are sent, and send to the correct department. Not rocket science

That's not exactly the CC email, but it's not a real checklist. I explained to someone earlier this month that when people try to qualify on assets alone, NVC sends out that above "checklist". It's basically just a warning.
