My scan date is 14th October For Check List.

Not silly at all, scan date is the date NVC enters your AOS/IV etc into their computer system. So it may arrive today and scanned into the system in two three days etc so you start your count down to the 60 day waiting period that way you can gauge when to call for any questions you may have or to see if it's accepted or not.

This might sound silly, but what is a scan date?

Your scan date is the date that the NVC acknowledge they received your AOS or IV package.

They'll send you an email / letter that states ""The National Visa Center (NVC) received your documents on XX-XXX-14"

That date is your "scan date" for that package.

If you sent your AOS and IV packages separately you'll have two scan dates.

I paid my AOS fees before the new fees got updated...where do I pay the difference? I'm still waiting for case complete , AOS package sent in September 05 and IV .October 10 will this delay my case from being view?

If you paid the AOS fee before the change, then you're fine, you already paid. You don't have to pay any difference

Hi, my scan date is 10/23 for both packages. I know there are three others on this thread with scan dates of: 10/21, 10/23, and 10/24. With you, we are now 5 (so far).

Dear sweet Soloenta...no guns...though I understand the feelings of utter despair and frustration . As we all know from experience that the responses you get can vary from NVC operator to operator . I asked her several times are you sure that this is how it is supposed to be done and she emphatically said yes. She walKed me through each correction that needed to be made .I am really learey of anything being said by anyone on the NVC phones. There does not seem to be any continuity except for the 60 day speel we all get .

I personally know of a couple that wrote NONE in the Tax spaces and just sent in the letter explaining why they did not have to file and they did NOT get checklist .

I think it all depends on who REVIEWS your papers and what they have been taught is acceptable. They are not allowed to make errors and maybe some are super afraid to let even the tiniest details go if they themselves are unsure if NONE is ok . I talked to one operator and he advised that the reason I got A check was because I wrote none in the part 6 13.a box which he said implies that I filed taxes thus the request for the 2013 return...uuuugghhhhh yes it is mind blowing. Who in the heck knows what to do if they all give different advice?

I am just as unsure of whether my AOS will make it through this time...this is the stuff that nightmares are made off.

I think the rep you talked to just doesn't know what they are talking about I don't know anyone getting a checklist for putting in 0, 0,00 or none, leaving it blank yes and not always. This is just all to much, to be so unsure and knowing these people don't know what they are talking about can give you a nervous breakdown. I had one and it wasn't pretty on the phone with a Supervisor. Can you ask to speak to one to just make super sure they seem to know what they are talking about for the most part? Will as you know well be praying for you.

Hi everyone, just checking in. My third month at NVC with a scan date of 10/23 (email said 10/21; rep said 10/23).

Hoping for a CC with no checklists by 12/22 at the very latest! Hopefully this week will be productive!!

Got checklist 3 weeks ago and no letter yet. Can I just send my corrected AOS without waiting my letter from NVC?

December will be good to us! Hopefully our Christmas will be happier knowing this whole wait is done and just wishing for a good interview date.

OK, call me dumb if you all know this already, but I didn't realise there were two ways into the CEAC portal.

If you type in ceac.state.gov it will automatically bring you to https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/

On that page you'll see...

IMMIGRANT

• DS-261, Online Choice of Address and Agent
• Fee Payment
• DS-260, Online Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration Application
• Check My Visa Application Status

If you click those options you can then submit your case details and see your status, payment status for AOS/IV etc.

But if you go to https://ceac.state.gov/IVinstead, you get a different portal. You submit your case details there too, but the information is presented differently.

The reason I mention this is that I was watching the first one for the AOS "PAID" to change to "N/A" so I'd know I had gone Case Complete. But when I went Case Complete it didn't change - and still hasn't. It's only when I go through the second portal that I see "N/A" next to my AOS fee.

This probably isn't news to you guys, but I thought it might be useful in some cases.
