Hi all,

So I called NVC and talked with an operator that told me this would result in a checklist.

So now we're working on resenting the new forms. Does anyone know if I should just send the corrected forms with a cover letter explaining and the form for the AOS Fee? Or should I resend the whole application?

Basically when you get a checklist, what does it ask you to do?

Also, does anyone have a good sample cover letter I can use as a template?

Thanks!

We could send in the corrections that the FIRST person told us, the W2 and the corrected i864a, but the SECOND person told us "don't worry about the bit in the email that says the police certificate is missing, because it's just that those get sent straight to the consulate" when I actually DID send one, and I'm afraid it wasn't enough.

I don't know what to do :(

Sharks

Our AOS was reviewed on 24th Nov (as stated by NVC Phone agent). We also got told there were checklisted items on 26th Nov when I called NVC.

Agent gave minimal info so I called again on 28th Nov just before closing time.

1. W2 Forms Missing for 2013 Tax Return

Agent stated: Need W2's for 2013 tax return.

I explained the full tax return was included and there are no W2's as my wife (USC) did not have any US employment in 2013.

Agent just said, 'oh, ok just send a letter signed by your wife saying she didnt work in the US for 2013"....I almost fainted from the stupidity.....so ridiculous!

Action taken

Sent the requested letter to NVC (surely this won't take 60 days!!!...wait, of course it will)

2. AFP Police Certificate: We also included it. However, NVC agent didn't want anything to do with it.

I got a robotic response "you need to send an original Police Clearance to the US Consulate".

Action taken

I have now sent a secondary original AFP Police Clearance and NSW National Police Certificate directly to the US Consulate which waits until eventual interview to be handed back to me.

No Official Checklist

As of today (4th Dec), like yourself, we have not received any CHECKLIST email / paper notification from NVC.

All the very best for your follow up items...and closure to the madness that is NVC.

Hello! I got the dreaded checklist today...

My mistake was that I put the "wages, salaries, tips" total instead of the total income

"In Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment, please correct the following...
[x] Items 13.a.1. The income you enter must match the total (gross) income reported on your most recent Federal
income tax return. If you filed Form 1040EZ, use the adjusted gross income instead."

I see my mistake BUT because that # is wrong for the for the most recent tax year that means so is "Part 6: 5 current individual annual income" AND "Part 6: 10 current annual household income" because they are all affected by the same total income # BUT the checklist only recognizes 1 of those 3 incorrect numbers...I feel like I shouldn't change anything on the forms that they didn't checklist but if it doesn't match it is incorrect...OH WHAT TO DO!?!

Plus, I realize now that I put the "wages, salaries, tips" total instead of the total income on all 3 most recent tax years, but I only included the tax return transcript for 2013 so many that's why the other 2 years didn't get a checklist? but now I know they are incorrect as well!

I'm not sure If I should follow a "don't volunteer information they didn't ask for" approach or include some kind of letter explaining this?!? but something tells me i might be a bad idea to say too much! I just want to make sure I do this right or else I'll be so stressed for ANOTHER 60 days!

I'D BE SO GRATEFUL FOR YOUR HELP!

I need some help for my parents' AOS.

AOS Scan date August 13th

IV scan date September 22nd

AOS checklist scan date only for my father October 31st

Just received checklist dated on November 26th,

now they asked my mother's AOS.

Well, I did not know I have to fill in 2 separate I-864 for father and mother until now.

On August, for my mother, I sent them copy of AOS under name of my father.

Ok, I can fill in I-864 under name of my mother and send them now.

However, the problem is that I am out of country until January and do not have any supporting documents like w2 or tax form with me.

The question is;

"Do I have to send supporting documents for my mother's AOS?

In spite of NVC has those documents for my father's case. "

My father's case is still pending and awaiting to be reviewed October 31st checklist.

AOS was paid only for my father's case.

I just called NVC and

one of representative said I have to send supporting documents too.

AOS is an awkward form, I learned not to skip the 2nd address portion which usually results in large amounts of check lists thanks to this website and Saylin's advice. Just make sure if you filed 1040ez use Adjusted Gross Income and if you used 1040 use Total Income.

My issue was I had tax amended cause accountant forgot my 1099 income; and when I got it corrected I submitted the amended return along with transcript; and issue was amended showed correct income as Adjusted Gross Income for a 1040 while transcript showed Total Income (two different) cause original transcript never changes regardless how many amendments you have done. And these people sitting in NVC ignored the amended return and kept looking at transcript. :)

Hi All,

My AOS Scan date is: 11th Aug

IV Scan date is: 18th Sep

Y'day I got a checklist email from NVC and we are supposed to correct following mistakes in i-864 and i-864a form:

i-864

------

In Part 6. Sponsor's Income and Employment, please correct the following...

[x] Item 5. You must enter your current individual annual income. This means the amount of money you expect to earn

during the current calendar year.

Since my wife is doing MBA and she isn't earning anything we checked the box "Unemployed Since:" and we kept the "My current individual annual income is:" field empty. Are we supposed to explicitly put 0.00 in this field?

i-864a

-------

My brother in law is the household member sponsoring me and we got a checklist in i-864a form too:

Part 1 Information on the Household Member

[x] This section is incomplete. Please answer all questions completely. (If N/A, please indicated in the

appropriate space).

Now, except the "place of residence" everthing is filled. We left it blank because it is same as the mailing address. Do we still need to write the same address again that we mentioned in mailing address?

Thanks

What an awesome and helpful post, thanks SO much!

We found husbo's W2 so that's easy peasy. We figured out how to correctly fill in the "City" part of the i84a place of birth for his mother. Those are the two things we know are missing.

So you are suggesting that what I should do is, when my AFP certificate arrives, just send it to the consulate? And send the rest in to the NVC as requested?

Still no email either!

Sharks

You are most welcome.

Glad you were able to complete the outstanding W2 and form item.

As for the AFP Certificate, yes that is correct. But make sure you make a photocopy or scan and send the ORIGINAL to the US Consulate. For addressing details see the link:

http://canberra.usembassy.gov/visas-geninfo/sydney.html

Cover Note

If you wanted to, you could also include a basic cover note. (It could be overkill, but I feel better explaining very simply what is included and reference to my NVC case number).

Response from US Consulate Support

I sent an email to the US Consulate asking about sending the Police Check Certificates directly (email support-australia@ustraveldocs.com )

The below is an excerpt from their next day response. For the Aust. state, I am in NSW. Check with your local Police Station if you have further questions - I know for my case, the NVC Rep explicitly said the document had to go to the US Consulate.

Depending on the Australian state/territory in which you reside will depend if the police certificate is meant to be sent to our office.

If the original Australian police certificate is received in our office, our office will remain in possession of the from which will then be returned to you on the day of the visa interview.

Thank you

Immigrant Visa Unit

U.S. Consulate General, Sydney

(CC)"

Hope the above helps...

I feel a little better knowing all possible documents are in transit to their respective places - now just need that Case Complete.... in the meantime, I am going to focus on regular gym workouts to keep my mind busy....

All the best!
