Oh yeah - I'm so freakin' angry right now.

I can not believe I used an outdated copy of the stinking affidavit of support and got an RFE for it. So simple, yet so stupid, and now we add on another 90 days till he can work. Why of why do they have to make this so damn difficult?

Ok - I just read an article that Iraqi refugees have a six year waiting list to get here, so I need to count my blessings, but I'm still angry as hell.

So - my piece of advice for the day ---- check your document versions before submitting them! Or you will end up in RFE land like me! :crying:

Ok, I'll go fill out the bloody form now and shut up...

It doesn't mean another 90 days - send in the new one and hopefully they'll pick right up where they left off and shortly after you'll be approved.

If you respond in a timely fashion you probably won't "lose" your place in line.

Oh - I hope so!!! The RFE states that he is not legal to work until 90 days after the receive the documentation, hopefully that is just a standard line.

I've already submitted all the other required documents, so I assume I only need to send the notarized affidavit of support now. I should be able to put that in the mail on Saturday.

I'm getting to know the notary at my bank on a first name basis! SHEESH!!!

Thanks, btw, I needed to hear this, and I so hope this is the case. We are by no means starving, but it will be so nice to have a second income and a second car around here!!!

Let me get this right, your version I-864 was outdated, or the information it contained was outdated? I notice the version on the USCIS website expired last September or something. Where do you get an updated form? And no more notorization? Anyone have a link for that?

Sorry this happened to you, good luck with everything else.

No link need re: notarization... check the form. There's no place for a notary signature like there is on the I-134 and there's nothing referencing a notary in the instructions.

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Wow. That is a relief..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Are you sure that's what the RFE is for? I didn't need notarization for mine. My RFE was for supporting evidence already sent in. Usually the USCIS website tells you which versions of the form are acceptable to use even if they are outdated. Check that out. Good luck.

The RFE states the following:

"The sponsor or joint sponsor has submitted a version of Form I-864 Affidavit of Support that is no longer in use. Beginning October 20, 2006, Form I-864 Affidavit of Support must be submitted on revision January 15, 2006 (1/15/2006) or later. You will find the most current version of Form I-864 Affidavit of Support online at http://www.uscis.gov/. Submit a completed Form I-864 on the current version of the form. Both the petitioner sponsor and joint sponsor (if required) must use the current version of Form I-864. Any Form I-864 submitted with a revision date of before January 15, 2006 will not be accepted. If not previously submitted, submit the following documents with From I-864:"

Then it lists all the other stuff you need to send with it if you didn't previously (which I did do) like the employment letter, tax documents, etc.

So - that's what they told me to do. Fill out the new version and send it back.
