Hi,

So i came here on a k1 in July. Married in August and filed for AOS in September. I received my combo EAD/AP card today but I have a few queries and I was hoping someone who has been through this would be able to help me out.

I'm a British citizen if that matters. My card says it is valid from a few days ago until 11/20/15- does that mean I can make multiple trips out of the country with this card as it doesn't specify?

Secondly, although I was granted AP, my reason for leaving is not "emergency", I really miss my family and wish to spend the xmas holidays with them, but will I be given grief for this when I reenter, or do they not ask your reasons for leaving?

And lastly, I've read in quite a few places about not leaving if you have ever been out of status. What does this mean? Surely I am currently "out of status", as I don't have my greencard yet and my K1 ran out. Please help me understand what this means.

Thanks!!

You are not currently out of status. When you filed for AOS you were automatically put into a period of authorised stay. You can use your AP to visit family, and it is valid for multiple trips. It doesn't have to be an emergency. You shouldn't have any issues returning with your AP.
