Fiance from the Philippines Concerns

Tourist visa very unlikely issued for single female in Pi. You will have to go meet somewhere face to face ether to marry or to at least meet the requirements for a finance visa. You can get tourist visa for there after you land there BUT it does not work that way for her. She must apply before even thinking about tickets.

Ether you need to go to Pi. or meet in a country like Hong Kong that she can travel to.

Best of luck!

Doing the spouse Visa may take awhile but if you use fiancee you will have to adjust status which is going through the process again. Is it your first marriage for both of you?

I believe the best advice is to go and visit her for a short period of time, meet her family take lots of pictures. What exactly do you do for your mother in her frail health? Are you her daily care giver does she live with you?

I don't want to make light of your mother's frail health, but if you are not there 24/ 7 are you the miracle that keeps her going? Your thought seems divisive. The woman you hope to spend the rest of your life is far away. Isn't it worth making a hard choice to see if you are making the right choice?

I went through a similar situation but it was my wife's mother.

Hope it all works out for you I'm sorry you have such stress in a time that should be a happy time. I am not sure if you even talked openly with your mother maybe she has a good idea.

Timeline

1) The chances of her getting a tourist visa issued are just about ZERO!!!!!

Unless she is extreamly financially stable, has property, and investments in the Philippines, she is not going to get a tourist visa issued.

Do your research on this website and you will see tourist visa are RARELY issued for parties coming from the Philippines.

2) Get on a plane, fly there, leave the next day. The conditions only state that you must have met at least once in the past 24 months. It DOES NOT state how long that meeting lasted.

3) And finally, yes, her coming here on a tourist visa with intentions to marry is immigration fraud. It seriously pisses me off when I read posts like this. As it should for ALL K-1 and CR-1 visa applicants. We ( K-1 & CR-1 ) members have put our time in, dredged through the mud, financially sacrafised, and practiced our patience to the extream limits.

4) Promise to God.....not sure where your going with that. There has only been ONE MAN who has walked this earth and NOT BROKEN a promise. His son Jesus Christ. You make a promise to God not to leave, yet, you consider immigration fraud by her attempting to come here on a tourist visa. Not trying to be harsh here, but white is white and black is black. There is no grey area in what your propsing. Dude, tell your mother your going away for the weekend for a break. Go to the Philippines. Stay 5 days, get back on the plane, tell your mom you love her and your happy to be back, start your K-1 Visa application. You have plenty of on line support from the members on this site.

5) Do a CLEAN immigration petition. This way you do not spend the rest of your life wondering if "SOMETHING" in the paper work will " CATCH UP TO YOU". Good luck bro.

I need some advice. I am ready to bring my fiance from the Philippines here to Atlanta, Georgia.

However, here is the issue. Due to my mother's fragile health, my fiance encouraged me not to come to her country so I can look out for my mother. Despite that she wants me to go to her country to meet her family and get married there, she wants to make the sacrifice to come here.

I know the K-1 requires me to go there to meet her in person but it's not going to happen since I promised God for me not to go.

Here are some options that I have in mind.

My aunt got married at the American Embassy in Ecuador then her husband filed for the marriage licence while he was in New Jersey. Then they got married at the church when she came to the U.S. is this possible for me?

Those are two options that I listed above or does anyone has a better alternative for us. Thanks.

It is a bad idea to marry someone you have never seen before. Buy a ticket and head to Manila. Take pictures with her and her family. Take pictures next to a well known landmark. Make a copy of your visa entry stamp. Make her sign a document saying she intends to marry you within 90 days upon arrival in the US using the K1 visa. Heck, put a ring on it if that is your thing. If she is what you think she is (the woman of your dreams) you will have spent an awesome time with her, maybe the best time in your life. Head home. Now you have all the evidence you need to proceed with the fiance visa petition. (Almost all of it).

I do not personally know both of you.. and I feel the pain of not having your Significant Other near.

She may or may not get a visa.. it all depends on her situation.. she needs to have strong ties to the Philippines or traveled to a different country just to show that she is really capable of coming back.

Do you have any family that can at least watch over your mom even just for a few days? Online romance is something and can lead to something great, but often we have this expectation of someone and when we meet them they don't meet the expectation.. you need at least some sort of personal contact to know if you truly fit.

I don't want to burst your bubble but the best step would be to visit her.. but, if you really can't, risk the tourist visa, but if you do get married have her go home. Some would encourage you to do an adjustment of status right away, but you have to really think hard about it, this is marriage, it's a lifetime commitment. Be sure you know who you're marrying. Plus there's a risk that they would see it as fraud.

Okay we all can agree why we are here. We are trying to do everything possible to do what's accordance to the law. So I'm willing to take the fiance visa route the reason why she is in love with me, is the way i'm good to my mother. She wants to come she keeps encouraging me to look out for my parents. But I'm going to file for the K1

Sorry to be political but for me, fraud is undocumented people sneaking through the southern border into the U.S, then they get a free ride.. To make matters worse, President Obama just gave them legal status to them. Now, that is quite unfair that we work so hard to do the right thing, then we might get denied entry, while undocumented people enjoy getting amnesty.

Anyways, thanks for the help; i already have a gameplan ;)

Without meeting in person you are not going to get a K-1visa, meeting in person is a requirement. If you get married in the Philippines you can't use a K-1 visa you would have to use a CR-1 visa which takes longer then a K1. But of course getting married in the Philippines requires you to be there, getting a K-1 requires you to go there and meet her, so what is the difference?.

In philippines its not easy to obtain b1/b2 visa, she need to prove so many things..and yet there is no assurance for the approval..why you guys just wait till your mom become ok then meet her in our country..beside its not a good plan to get married under tourist visa..every country is different..our country is the tough one regarding b1/b2 visa.goodluck

I strongly suggest you follow along on the Philippines threads for this subject matter. Country specific information you should follow. My opinion is to get over to the PI for the meet and greet if only for a week or less.

Sounds like a scam to me I would be very cautious sending money to someone you never met in person heck I have been scammed by people I did meet. I have heard other stories of close friends who met Filipinas online and they told them just send me the money for the plane ticket I will be right over and we can get married over there (USA).

This has scam written all over it. Another guy I know went there met her sent her money to support her and help her out by the time the interview came she vanished never to be heard from again. He ended up meeting someone again, but he didn't believe us either about scammers and how heartless they are. Not saying your being scammed, something sounds fishy on her end.

The easiest thing to do is to go there and meet her. Honestly, you don't have a shot otherwise. Options? Renegotiate your promise, forget this girl, or wait for your mom to pass and hope the girl waits. Sorry, that's the hard truth.

Here's another problem with not having met her that others didn't mention.. YOU NEED EVIDENCE to do these visas. Especially K1. And a referral for more evidence delays your case. How are you going to show USCIS that you two are a bonafide couple, truly in love & wanting to get married, if you don't even have one single picture together and have never even met? That's going to look SO fishy to them when they're going through files and trying to weed out people marrying for a green card. If you've never met, they may think she's in it for the green card. And Skype call logs won't completely cut it. You need solid evidence. Like others said, you need to visit her and gather some of that evidence.

Also- keep in mind that normal processing times for K1s can be 5-6 months, if not more to get the visa in hand, and sometimes the consulate in Philippines can get filled up with appointments quickly (there seems to be a LOT of K1s coming from there!). I'm not sure how long they'll be expediting Filipino cases, but it may take longer than some people have mentioned if you wait to get it done.

Good luck.

Also- sorry to ALSO get political, but I totally agree with you on Obama's immigration plans. This stuff should be pissing everyone on here off because we're all going through literally hell to do it the right way while thousands, maybe millions, get away with breaking the law. It's bull.

Everything will start slowing down so when Obamnesty kicks in.

You suggest your Mother has not much longer perhaps you need to take things sequentially

Also maybe give you time to meet the sponsorship requirements.
