OK - I think we're on the right track now. Thanks for all of your advice.

I'm just trying to find an example of the 4-page Chinese/English birth certificate that everyone seems to be using. At the embassy, they noted that the hospital/medical version we had was quite different, and that the Chinese/English one was more simple and didn't come from a hospital (I'm assuming the Guang Zhen Chu generates this more simplified version of the front page, or at least they'll direct us where to go for that.. I've been googling all over the place - including here, trying to find an example of this document -- just to make sure we're getting the right thing this time.

Does anyone have an example, by any chance? .. just for confirmation!

The cover page would look like this.

inside would be a chinese page that look like this

and also english page

While you are at it, you should likely obtain several copies of the notarial birth cert. It is far easier to obtain now, than later on when she is in the US.

This sounds like good advice. Do we not get the copy we submit for the K-1 back?

You may, or may not. For example, this is specifically mentioned on page 1 of the Form I-129F instructions: http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-129finstr.pdf Since this is the China Regional Forum, I will include the link for the specific instructions of the Guangzhou consulate: http://ustraveldocs.com/cn/K1%20Instruction%20DS160%2020140711%28CN%29.pdf Check the specific instructions of your interviewing embassy/consulate. YMMV.

If not, you can always fill out another form with USCIS and attempt to get your documents returned to you: http://www.uscis.gov/g-884

Caveats: 1. Order several copies of your important, hard to obtain, documents. 2. Provide only copies, unless originals are specifically requested with immigration applications/petitions. Bring originals to interviews for comparison with provided copies by immigration officials.

Good luck on your immigration journey.
