This is normal.....they will sometimes call the people, I know in different cases, they call and they can called off the interview and they don't have to give you a date for your postponed interview but you can tell them you prefer to absolutely have it in the same date unless it is absolutely impossible!

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Hello I went to the interview arrived at 7:45, my interview is 8am I proceed to the information and show up my appoinment letter after a few minutes the lady told me that my interview was postpone she did not gave me any reason of postponent she told me to wait for a new schedule, at around 3:00 pm same day (after postman left) I checked letters at the mailbox and one is from uscis, it was a notice of cancellation of my naturalization interview with no reason of cancellation. I really dont knew why they cancelled my interview in the last minute without any reason.

Either they are overbooked or they don't have your file yet.

- They may have fewer interviewers working than they expected; someone may have quit or been transferred or taken unplanned personal leave. On the other hand, they may have more applicants to interview than they expected; they may have had to give your spot to someone with a medical emergency.

- Sometimes your file doesn't make it to the local office in time. They schedule interviews long before the file arrived and they assume that it'll get there in time. Some applicants don't get rescheduled; they show up only to be told that their file isn't there. It's good that they contacted you in advance.

It sounds like your local office is really good at contacting you; both by phone and mail. So you needn't worry; when they have a slot open, they'll schedule you for an interview.
