Hi Andrea

I know this is hard, by try not to be nervous, everything will go ok.

A couple of tips for the interview. Have all your papers in order and ready to present to them when they ask. What we did was use an accordian file and labled seperately for each document they would ask for. It made it much easier to find each document, especially when you are nervous. Make sure you take your evidence of your ongoing relationship, pictures, airline tickets, hotel receipts. They will probably ask questions about his family, his kind of work, maybe how much money he makes, how many times he has come to Peru, but if you know each other well, there will be no problems.

They day of the interview, arrive a little earlier at the Embassy. You may see a long line to get in, but go to the front of the line and speak with the guard and tell him you are here for your K-1 interview and show him your interview letter. He will then let you go in, instead of the long line. Going through security, they will take away your cell phone and any bottles (like perfume) and keep them until you leave. When you are inside, try and find a seat at the back of the room so you can rest again the wall. The rest of the seats are like benches and you cannot sit back. This helps when being there for a long while.

Hope this helps you and please ask us more if you have any other questions..... and Best of Luck

They did not let anyone in early when we went for Kathe's Interview. Instead, they split everyone up into two lines. The actual K1/K3 interviewees went in last at that time. Do get there early however. The line gets long very quickly.

As MandR stated, first and foremost: RELAX!!! :)

We used a large 3 ring binder (that or accordian file is your choice). Make sure you know where everything is, and you can hand it to them. Any photos you provide, make sure you put the location and date on them. We used a photo sheet that fit into the 3 ring binder that allowed you to caption each photo. We also made sure to put the names of everyone who is in the photos on the captions, especially family members.

The photos and the emails were what they looked at the most for us. As long as you have everything organized, and you have a good solid set of evidence, you should be in without issue. It can be very stressful, so try to relax a little bit. The people we dealt with were very helpful, although some of them seemed to be about the same as me when it came to enjoying mornings. :) However, they were very professional and appreciated having it all organized and labeled for them.

HTH :)

K.AndreC.Z,

Don't worry things should go fine. Just like everyone else has stated, just have your documents in order and relax. If you look at the Embassy Info section of VJ you will see folks who have rated the Peru Embassy. I've seen a couple of folks write about their expriences attending the interview without their USC/Finance and it turned out fine. I'll be in traveling from Trujillo to Lima with my Fiancee that day and we'll be thinking positive thoughts for you!! Do sit in the back bench area too!

Best of Luck and don't worry things will turn out fine!

I don't mean to rain on your parade but the embassy in Lima is known for saying "no" to the K1 visa when the fiance is not present. It's better if your novio can be with you. Make sure everything else is in order.. have lots and lots of proof of the relationship.

they are doing a lot better recently approving people who are not with their Fiancee. When we had Kathe's interview, we did see single applicants denied. There were two things that were very obvious at a glance about these people tho.

1) Bad Attitude. Be nice and polite to them, if you are rude or short, they do have the power and authority to make your life hell. One lady was a real gem, and once she started yelling at the lady behind the window, it was end of the road for her request.

2) Not a lot of evidence. Some of those there that were sent on their way had only a single letter. Nothing more. Take EVERYTHING you can. They need proof of a relationship, not a letter saying you are in love.

As I mentioned to you before, take everything you can think of, and document all of your photos. Showing a relationship with the family is a huge bonus as well from what I have seen. :) You will be fine as long as you prepare good. :)

Good luck for the interview!!

I went through that almost two years ago, so any reference about paperwork that I can give might have changed already. - I went to the interview by myself and they requested my fiance to be present, so he had to fly the week after that. Even though I had tons of evidence and they looked at it, they just wanted him there. When we went back together, they didnt look at a single piece of paper or picture we had... just his passport!!-

Just be yourself... smile and be patient, you might be in there for a couple hours! ;)

You will be fine...if you have all the documents correct, don't worry. My fiancee had her interview on February 7th in Lima, and she got her visa..I was not there. There was one problem though....for the document called something like( .........judiciales) I forget the first word of the document. She got the international one instead of the national one. Make sure you have the correct one because this delayed us for two weeks.

Best of Luck..just relax it will be fine!
