There is no place in the United States to get affidavit, you must get it from the Embassy in Cairo.

I recommend you check the website several times a day every day, as sometimes someone will cancel their appointment. I have also seen the embassy hold a few time slots that they open up closer to the start of the week. Be persistent, check back regularly!

Also, don't forget, if you plan to have the marriage contract translated and want the translation authenticated by the embassy, make your appointment now so you are not stuck in the same situation again. You will also want the translator to accompany you to the embassy, as it is actually an affidavit signed by the translator before the vice consul that will receive the authentication.

The Marriage affidavit, the document your fiance needs from the embassy before the two of you can get married, will be completed and notarized, and ready for you to take with you the day of your appointment.

As for the marriage contract, you can translate it yourself, however, unless you are fluent in English, I advise against doing it yourself as your translation needs to be accurate. There is a law office/translation company just around the corner of the embassy that provides very good translation services, I highly recommend using them, however, it will take several days for the translation to be completed. I highly recommend you have the translation completed before your wife leaves so she can review it for accuracy. Your wife does not need to be with you to make or attend an appointment for notarial services to have the translation authenticated. You can take care of it after she leaves, however, if you do it that way, you will need to send it to her once it is complete as she will need the authenticated translation if she intends to changer her name legally back in the United States.

When you do translate the document, whether you do it yourself or have someone else do it for you, you will want to be sure to have at least two copies of the translation, one for yourself and one for your wife. Only one of the copies needs to be authenticated though.

Also, notarial services are $50 US dollars or the equivalent in L.E. for each item, in case you were not aware.
