With Amy's move upon us soon, I've been sifting through the posts about the Temporary EA stamps.

Will be driving down from Vancouver crossing in Blaine, WA. I haven't checked to see if we have to take the Uhaul through the truck crossing rather than the peace arch.

My real question is if anyone has had their temp EA Stamp issued at the Blaine crossing.

I just saw that someone (cdancer?) had called the crossings to see if they would issue the stamp or not. Any leads on where to find those phone numbers?

US Customs and Border Patol is the agency in charge of the POEs.

Takes some digging around, but if you go here http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/toolbox/ports/ you should find the phone numbers for many of the POEs.

Also, take a look at the EAD timelines here as well as www.k1poelist.com for the experiences of others.

BE DONE THERE...SO HAD TO DO SNAIL MAIL FOR EAD

The CBP site has the Peace Arch contact info. I guess I'll give them a ring so there are no surprises when we get to the border.

I just called the POE (Blaine, WA) and they told me they had no idea what I was talking about. No one thought that a temp. EA stamp even exists. Weird.

The only POE that I know of that still stamps with a temp EA is JFK. But...you have to ask, from what I understand. If she does get it, she will have to quit working after 90 days unless you guys marry immediately and file AOS and EAD concurrently.

Did you find out if you can use the regular crossing or do you have to use the truck crossing? I ask since I will be going through one of those two before too long, probably with a pickup truck and uncovered trailer.

We asked in Calais why they didn't issue EAD's anymore. The guard just pointed to his baseball cap (it said CBP). He said, when they put Customs & "us" together they took that power away from us. We used to do it, but now we are no longer athorized to do it. The POE's are not supposed to give the stamps out according to the guard at Calais. Just a little FYI

To my knowledgethe only POE that gives the stamp is JFK

I believe someone recently got EAD at ... The Ambassador Bridge in Detroit? I'm low on estrogen here, so someone with more memory cells can correct me. But it was an unusual event.

Yup... it was me.. got it at Ambassador - I'm not the only person either, so they still do it.

I think I am going to enter at Detroit. The stamp may only be good for 3 months but I will be able to collect EI during that time period.

Yes.. i'm going to go apply for mine on Friday. But as far as I understand, I will have 90? 60? days to provide the number to my employer, as long as I can show that I have applied for it.
