Police certificate confusion

I'm wondering if we made a mistake.

Our I-130 got approved recently so we have been getting all the NVC stuff ready to go. Which includes my husband's police certificates.

He is a Canadian citizen but has British citizenship as well because his mother was born in Scotland. He spent 18 months in the UK volunteering on farms. He never changed his permanent address, it always stayed the same one back in Canada, as he intended to return home the entire time.

On the G325 Biographical Data, we did not include any addresses he stayed at in the UK for that reason. They weren't his actual addresses, they were either hostels or other people's homes where he was volunteering. Since his intent was never to change his residence to the UK, we thought this meant his address would've still been the permanent one in Canada.

We are now wondering if we made a mistake in thinking that because the police certificate is necessary if you lived in a different country for longer than 12 months. He did, so we thought we needed to get a UK police certificate.

We don't know what to do now, because in order to get the UK police certificate, their form asks for all past addresses, and we are back to the same problem. He stayed in the UK for 18 months, but none of those addresses were permanent or his. They were places he was staying.

Do we just skip doing a UK police certificate altogether? Even though he was there for 18 months? It was on his British passport, while we are filing his petition with his Canadian one.

We decided that we think it's fine, as on the G325 he did include addresses of all his work places, which included addresses in the UK.

Filling out the sample DS-230, it specifically says if dual national, list both. I don't remember ever seeing that before, so I'm thinking we'll be fine.

I think so too. We were just scared we did something wrong by not saying he lived there on the G325, but I think we're fine.

Hi, just to let you know they look at his stamps in his passport to see where he been traveling and they match up dates to time spent there i wouldn't gamble on a checklist

That's a good reminder. The thing is he traveled to the UK on his British passport, and the US on his Canadian one. All our petition forms have his Canadian passport number on them, none have the British.

We have never tried to hide anything at all, so we certainly won't start now. I was reassured by the fact that his G325 had his work addresses in the UK and the D260 will actually ask about dual nationality.

Just so it's clear, we will be ordering the certificate. I ended up answering my own question by looking at the sample form. Sorry for any confusion.
