Being inconvenienced doesn't justify running someone over but, having a bunch of people jumping on your car and banging on your windows certainly justifies trying to get the hell out of there IMHO. Anyone remember the Rodney King riots in L.A.? Being caught in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people can be deadly.

What if there was a pregnant woman in that vehicle trying to get to the hospital? Or someone driving a sick relative to the hospital. people have no right to block that traffic, they are breaking the law and putting people in danger.

pretty sure that pedestrians maintain the right of way - no matter.

Isn't that jaywalking? An offence too? Obstructing traffic?

Maybe next time, I decide to walk across the highway, I should expect the cars to stop in time for me.

Unlawful assembly and disturbing the peace come to mind as well, but I'm just trolling so don't mind me.

Yes, but these people were protesting quietly. They weren't throwing anything or unruly.

so the last time you saw a person jaywalking did you seize your opportunity for a justified hit and run?

and it's obvious they all rushed the car because there was a woman underneath the left front tire.

You can't really tell from the video what prompted the driver to move forward, you don't see what happened before. My sense is that they weren't trying to push people out of the way but wanted to get the hell out of there for some reason. Who knows. Maybe felt threatened and didn't want to be the next Reginald Denny.

The last time the person decided to run across the street, I had to step on car brake hard, praying the car behind doesn't crash into me.

So should I die from car accident because one idiot decided to jaywalk?

I have been caught in an occupy protest. When protestors swarm the streets it gets dicey. I saw one driver breakdown and start crying.

Not saying that's the situation here, but is possible the driver panicked

Yeap, but someone got hurt because of this panic and they left the scene of a crime. I wonder if they will be charged.

The people blocking traffic and disturbing the peace? I hope so as well. The people in the car shouldn't face any charges.
