That's what I saw. I thought the govt was assisting, but folks just know how to handle business. It happened on Friday, but I was flown out by Sunday, due to my knowing travel and being able to rebook a flight.

That's my beef. The riots are taking away from the actual message. Now all we get to hear is how violent and stupid black people are.

The flash mobs did that long ago .Rioters in training. We found out from Val today that they did not take cash... so they were not robbing anyone . .

This is the 21st century. No one stocks up expecting WW2 anymore.

We pay the government to prepare us as USCs. Just because you are on welfare does not mean you are not a citizen of the government that swears to uphold the law and protect it's citizens.

If that's how you truly feel, then you will be left behind in any major crisis or natural disaster.

I know folks who stock enough food and supplies in their house to last for a year (at least that's their goal). It's not as uncommon as you may think. The government is not repsobsible to train you how to be self-sufficient.

I know folks who stock enough food and supplies in their house to last for a year (at least that's their goal). It's not as uncommon as you may think. The government is not repsobsible to train you how to be self-sufficient.

Self-sufficient, no, they are expected to provide guidance in case of a disaster. That is what they are there for. That is what any citizen should expect of their government. If they are not here for guidance what are they here for.

Perhaps you are not seeing the difference, Janelle. You are trying to make the two situations the same, yet they were not. In LA, folks went crazy and started taking what they could for themselves. In Japan, they quietly followed their laws and helped each other out in an orderly fashion. It's all in the actions of the masses, even before the government had a chance to react.

Seen the same sort of example in Korea. When people protest, they come together as a large group, light candles, and sit or stand near to whatever they are protesting. Nothing is thrown, no one is hurt. The police are nearby, but I don't recall seeing them ever do anything. In their cultures, Asians tend to follow the law and act peacefully, not riot, loot, and steal from each other.

Who in Louisiana stood up and allowed the people down there to do this????...... no one. No one took control. The politicians ran and left the people. FEMA took forever to get supplies to the super dom. Katrina is a classic example of the government failing its' people

I was in the centre of Sendai when it happened. The government did little. After three weeks I managed to get evacuated to the UK. Going to Tokyo at that time was like going to a different country.

People here are trained as to how to react in an emergency. I just wanted to drink some booze and try to forget about it. None of my Japanese friends even thought about drinking, got up early every morning to line up infront of shops to buy provisions for their families. 仕方がない attitude.

Such a small knowledge of what goes on in this country. .. We pay the government to take care of us . In your world of being a liberal . .. They take from hard working folks and give to the leaches.. The ones that say we are from the government and are here to help. Help themselves to your hard earned dollars. .

Rioting for pumpkins is waaay more justified than rioting for a person's life

he had that option, he was apparently operating under the assumption that michael brown was a demon - and a taser obviously won't stop a demon. bullets do though.
