visa submission

I am trying to make a appointment for my initial application. But, the website I am using to make the appointment says this appointment is to get general information. I do not want to fly to Manila, wait in line, just to find out it truly is a appointment for general information and not one for a visa submission. Can anyone give me the link I need?

Why do you need to fly to manila to submit application? Are you living in Philippines and doing a DCF? what type of visa are you trying to get? your profile shows you are in California if you are then you can not just fly to manila and file with embassy .You have to establish residence there first. If you are living in the states and your wife is there you will have to mail the I-13 petition in. There are a lot of useful information on this site but you need to be a lot more clearer on what you are asking

Sorry if, I was unclear. Let me try again. I have been living with my Filipina GF (now wife) for about 14 months here in the Philippines. After we get visa, I want to return to USA. I really want to make certain I am making a appointment to submit my application for a IR-1 / CR-1 visa application and not a appointment for just general info. As I am flying into manila from Bohol and want to make certain I am in the correct line. If you can give the correct link to make that appointment, it would be appreciated.

Ok now i understand better you are doing the dcf filing you should post this in the dcf forum of this website and others who are doing dcf could help you out more i will try to help you get the info you need

Are you sure I should be doing DCF to US Embassy? A friend I know who has done this process told me being as I am currently living in the Philippines, said I should file 1R-CR-1.

Not going lie, the process is driving me crazy and I have not even submitted my application form yet.

yes if you live in the Philippines and have residence there you can do dcf .you will still be filing the IR/CR-1 visa but instead of having it sent to a service center you will be filing directly at the consul

Direct Consular Filing (DCF) is the unofficial term for filing an I-130 petition via a Consulate overseas, rather than through the US Service Center. While not everyone will qualify to do so, this process can expedite the speed in which a beneficiary can enter the United States and become a Green Card Holder (US Permanent Resident).

Current DCF procedures state that if a US Citizen lives overseas they may file the I-130 for a foreign spouse, child or parent at the US Consulate / USCIS Field Office governing their place of residence. In most cases permanent residence abroad must be legally established for a period of six months prior to submitting an I-130 petition (reference). In addition, emergency cases, such as life and death of health and safety, and cases determined to be in the national interest can be processed without the residency requirement being met. Examples of family emergencies include minor children who would be unexpectedly left without a caretaker. Examples of national interest include facilitating the travel of United States military and other USG direct hire employees assigned overseas who are pending transfer on orders and need to petition for immigrant classification of their spouse and minor children at posts overseas

at the top of the home page on this site there are tabs one say guides it explains the different ways of applying a visa for your spouse and gives information on what you need to do also there is a tab that say forum and it had different subjects one of them is dcf people who are doing the dcf can actually help you more then me as I am doing the IR/CR-1 from the USA also there is forum for Philippines under regional discussion

but if you have been living in the Philippines longer then 6 months and have establish residence there you can file the IR/CR-1 thru DCF

There is one thing I forgot if you do file doing DCF you will have to provide income from USA and have domicile establish

Important Note: A US Citizen living overseas that wishes to complete the I-864, Affidavit of Support, for their spouse (as part of the DCF process to get an Immigrant Visa) will be required to have U.S. domicile/intent to reestablish domicile to qualify as a Sponsor for the I-864. In addition to having a US domicile/reestablishing domicile the US Citizen must either have employment that will continue (from the same source) when they move/return to the US, or, per the instructions on the I-864, the US Citizen and their spouse may use assets to qualify if the income requirement is not met. In many cases however a couple may need to get a joint sponsor to successfully fulfill the requirements on the I-864

you are allowed to use a joint sponsor from the USA if your income is not enough but the income has to be from the USA

the only other way you can file is to come back to the states and file but that will take longer and you will still need proof of income

Thanks so much for all the time you took to answer my questions. I guess my friend was steering me down the right path with a DCF filing. And you confirmed that. As far as scheduling my appointment for my initial application, I do have a website were I can schedule a appointment at the embassy. I just hope this is the location for submitting applications.
