She is waiting on the EAD for her license, so it will be nice when she gets that approved.

talk about a drivers license, Paiwan has her learners permit id card but still needs to pass the written exam to make it valid. First, it is not longer a written exam, it is a computerized touch screen exam. But since she was not to sure about her ability to read and understand the english, we opted to have a translator. Well, it hought they would just help her read the english on the computer .. nope .. she had to sit with an answer sheet with her back to the translator (who was my suster-in-laws mom) and the translator read each question and the answer choices to her. They wer not allowed to look at or speak to eachother. If Paiwan needed the question repeated she would raise her hand. They also tape recdorded it so they could send it "downtown" to get checked. Well, after 2.5 hrs and 40 questions, she was scored witha 67% out the 75% needed to pass.

she was sulking for days wondering why she didn't pass and how she had failed and so on .. and even though i told her many people failed once or a few times at first she thought i was only saying that to make her feel better.

So now it she has given me the job to read the digest of motor vehicle laws and teach her. We havn't even gotten to the the actually driving lessons yet .. that part kinda scares me! :help:

She just had her birthday on the 20th and turned 33. :star:

Happy B-day to Paiwan!!

Tell her even me - got my driving licence after the 3rd time!! well.. yea.. first time I DID NOT READ the booklet... so who is to blame  I thought I know how to drive (and been driving in BKK for quite long) how hard can it be!! oh well.. I never drive in a snow, never have a break problem, dont know about the common accident, dont know the city speed limit and dont really know how to drive the 5 gear  So yes I fail the first time.. I went back home.. study the booklet they gave me and pass the second time but fail to *fully* stop at the stop sign and went down the hill 2-3 miles faster than the speed limit. So yea *I* fail the second time on the driving test and *PASS* on the 3rd time.. My self esteem went down hill for a while though  So tell Piwan dont worry - even someone that can *UNDERSTAND* English well like me still fail  ohhh how embarrassing :whistle:

Just thought I'd pop in and say "Sawasdee Krap"! :)

Chutima and I are really enjoying Florida so far, and will be much happier when we move into our new home next month. The Melbourne area is great, and they are even building a new Thai Temple! Lots of Asian markets to shop at, so no problem finding everything we need.

RFE was a joke, but at least its behind us now. Waiting in line like many others right now, but I really don't mind, because at least we are together, unlike waiting for the K-1 visa.

We received and email on Friday Sept. 22nd that said:

Application Type: I485 , Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status

Current Status:

On September 22, 2006, a welcome notice was mailed for this case.

I am pretty sure that this means that Jass doesn't have to go to an interview and that she is getting her green card! I am correct????? Aren't I???

Jass is very happy but also says that her vacation is over! No more sleeping late. Now she will be able to get her drivers license and go to school or get a job....she is very excited!

I have to admit that this "Welcome Notice" took us by surprise. That's why we are trying to "pinch" ourselves. What does a welcome notice say ???? Are we still going to have an interview? I would have felt better if the notice told us that my wife was "approved". Approved is a word I can understand!

Congratulations to you two!! or should I say three?? heheh...

Our case is still pending. At our AOS appointment we found out that there were no finger prints in fingerprints file (lost???) so the case could not be approved. About a week later she received a notice in the mail to go for fingerprints the next day at 9:00 AM!!!, was I glad I decided to check the mail when I arrived home from work at 9:00 PM that night! Today is three weeks since fingerprintst and not a peep from USCIS, I've read some real horror stories from people in similar situations but we are trying to keep our spirits up. At the end of next week I'm going to start making noise and schedule an infopass.
