Hi All,

My wife Bennie has her interview on the 15th of November. I need to finish putting together the documenation tomorrow as we are leaving for Pattaya for two weeks and our traditional wedding ceremony and only returning one day before the interview.

My question: On the appointment letter there is a checklist of items to bring to the interview. One item states "All documentation establishing your eligibility for Lawful Permanent Residence status." I would have thought this would be her K-3, I-94, a copy of our I-485 and the appointment letter. However, they ask for us to bring all of these on other line items. Are they simply being redundant or am I missing something here?

Thanks for any help ya'll can provide,

Jim

Dao received her Green Card in the mail yesterday, she is away on training for her job, so I opened it and took a good look. My excitement quickly turned to dismay when I realize they have her listed as MALE! Looks like we ware going to have to make an infopass to get her passport stamped and then send the card back with form I-90 requesting a correction.

On the 2nd we went to CT DMV to get Dao as state resident ID Card. We figured that since we had her greencard and had corrected married / maiden name problem with the Social Security office about 6 weeks ago that everything would be smooth...... WRONG! Her name in the SAVE (Social Security) system was still in her maiden name, and because it did not match the name on her greencard they could not issue her an ID. The next day we went to the social security office to address the problem, armed with her new greencard. Luckily for us, we had a very helpful represenative, we gave her a new name change form and she entered it in the computer and asked if we had applied for a name change before. We explained the situation and she said.. hmmm, hold on a moment, went to a small 3 foot file cabinet and pulled out our original application from 6 weeks ago. She canceled that application, entered the new one, and gave us a letter for the DMV. Back to the DMV, where we had to get special permision to over ride the save system, at first the floor manager said "it can't be done", but several of the window workers Luckily insisted that it was ok, reluctantly the floor manager went to speak to her supervisor who OK'd the over ride, no problem.

I'm glad we went to get the ID and were able to get these problems straight now so that my wifes appointment in December to get her drivers license will go smooth.

Hi - congratulation for the interview date!! And hope you ENJOY THAILAND!!! I wish i'm there right now :D

Anyway... for "All documentation establishing your eligibility for Lawful Permanent Residence status." I took all the copy of my AOS with me.. the NOAs and also the NOAs for K-1 visa too. (that's how i understand they are asking anyway.. Bram didnt help with AOS that much  )

I think the items they actaully asked from me at the interview were my I-94 and my EAD. then I show her my joint bank account and joint .... stuff...

then she asked Bram for his employment letter (self employ) and latest tax return (have a late file letter intead) and that's it...

Good luck to u!!

twellspeak,

Something doesn't make sense here - SAVE is a USCIS information system, not a SSA system. SSA has access to the USCIS system to verify that the infomation given by an alien SS card applicant matches the information that CIS has on that person.

Sometimes UCCIS can be slow to update SAVE.

I am glad to see that most of you have gone through your AOS journey and have recieved your green cards.

Our AOS journey has not been so great. I called the customer service center requesting a status of our case? They had no new news to tell us. Today, we recieved an email from USCIS telling us the status of our case. Here is what they told us.

The status of this service request is:

The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of our records

establishes that your case is not yet ready for decision, as the required

investigation into your background remains open.

Until the background investigation is completed, we cannot move forward on your

case. These background checks are required to be completed on all applicants

who apply for the immigration benefit you are seeking. We will make every

Mike,

The K visas are non-immigrant visas. There are some investigations done, but not all of the investigations that are done for an immigrant visa. There are additional investigations done for adjustment of status. Immigrant Visa = K Visa + Adjustement

Adjustment is not and should not be "just a rubber stamp", expecially since adjustment can be from any number of different non-immigrant statuses (stati?).

It's quiet in here lately

well I have a question for my friend. She recieved the Interview date a while back for Dec.5 and like a week ago she went to check her status online and it said that her interview has been cancle. They didnt send any notice to her yet and they didnt give her the new date...

The question is.. should she just go there anyway on Dec 5? to take the chance they might let her interview or that the online thing is wrong? it's coming up and she hasnt recieved any other notice..

Thanks guys

Anya,

I would go, even if I had received written notice. USCIS has been known to screw this up, and if the local District or Sub office - which does not maintain the online status information - still thinks there is an interview it will deny the application for failure to appear. That problem can be corrected, but it will be hell.

Better to attend as scheduled and find out that the interview was indeed cancelled than to not attend and find out that the online status was wrong.
