Question about the interview scheduling (French Embassy)

Here is our situation. If anyone who has direct experience with the Embassy in France can provide any insight or advice this would help a lot.

My fiance is dealing with the embassy in france right now
She has everything she needs for the interview

She received the letter in the mail from the embassy saying that they have received our case and that she should schedule the interview for December 2 (2014)

So she went on the website and december 2nd wasn't an option. (It wasn't 'clickable' on the calendar thing)

So she scheduled it for a date in november that was available. I think it was Nov 3rd or something like that.

She went to paris, got the medical work done but for some reason called the embassy before going there to double-check that it was okay to go since december 2nd wasn't the date they had said to schedule the interview for.

the guy on the phone said (paraphrasing) 'no you have to schedule it for the date that we sent you on the letter' 'cancel the date and reschedule through the website for dec 2'

Now there are no dates available.

Ive read here that they refresh the dates every week or so.

We've contacted the embassy many times and the people are always not very helpful.

We have everything ready, have already paid the fee and just need to schedule the interview but the website shows no days available.

Should we be trying to schedule it for the date they said in the letter (Dec 2) or just any day that comes up

P.S.

She cancelled the nov date she scheduled and went back and forth with the embassy people. They seem really incompetent over there. Emails never returned even after weeks and just generally bad at helping. Is there anything we can do besides just waiting for dates to open up on the calendar and what is the timeframe for this. Also is there any way I can contact them by phone from the US that won't cost me an arm and a leg?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

In the end it worked out. What I had to do was call the number in the US to sort things out. Since she scheduled the wrong date and then had to cancel it, that caused something in the computer system at the embassy in paris to freeze her account so to speak. If this happens to anyone in the future id call the US number (find it on the embassy website) and talk to them.

to user/stupid: I think it takes about a week-a month

Hi, we are having the same issues with the website, and his interview is in about a week. We contacted the embassy through email and they didn't even answer our question they just told him his interview date. What was the number that you called? I can't find it on the website. My fiancé contacted the us visa-info.com and they told him they only answered questions about non-immigrant visas. thank you for your help :)

hey i'm so sorry I don't remember the number but it was a US number located in virginia maybe (i think?)

anyway the problem was something in france wasn't right with the computer system (they didn't have permission there to access the case or something?) so somehow this lady on the phone in the US was able to unlock it or something like that.

Anyway if you received the letter with the appointment in the mail, go on that date that they scheduled.

What happened with us was that the date they scheduled in the letter wasn't available on the online website so we were like ####### and she tried to schedule a different date

but it has to be the date they sent (you can't choose another date online, gotta be that one)

I think the date popped up on the computer system maybe 2 days before but in case it doesn't just go to the embassy in paris on the date and time in the letter they sent you.

Try googling the USCIS number and calling that. If someone tells you they can't help, call back and talk to someone else. Some people there are smarter than others.

if all else fails and you aren't able to schedule it online I would go to the embassy anyway on the day in the letter.

Our case was special because she scheduled the wrong day and had to cancel it and then it somehow locked up our case, hence me having to have the lady in the US unlock it.

hope this helps a little

this stuff is so stressful but just know that we got through it and you will too :)

thank you. we got the interview date from the embassy, and after he paid and went to select that date on the website it wasn't available, so he chose another date, and now his confirmation paper says that date. hopefully it gets worked out, because dealing with the embassy is very frustrating.

hi, I've read your comments and I'm hoping that maybe one of you could help. We have received package 3 from the French Embassy Feb. 28, and we have done everything that was mentioned in the letter - we have everything we need for the interview, and paid the fee. Next step is to schedule the interview.

My question is, do we have to send back the DS-2001 (form of readiness) to the Embassy ? It was nowhere mentioned in the package 3, but since we havent received a letter with the interview date, I am guessing this is what we are missing..

Thank you for your help :)

P.S. : it's probably too late, but the US number that he embassy gave us is - 7034392370

Hey sorry for my late reply. My wife says that yes you have to send that for DS-2001 back to them. That's probably what is missing. The letter they send will have the interview date on it. Hope this helps a little.

Hey, so apparently, there is no more need to send the DS-2001 form, the process changed recently and now it is the applicant who schedules the interview. But thank you for your answer, we appreciate it : )
