We applied for my wife's EAD to be renewaled over 3 months ago and have not heard anything from the status until this showed up in the email:

Case Status

Receipt Number: MSCxxxxxxxxxxxx

Application Type: I765, APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION

Current Status: We mailed you a notice requesting additional evidence.

On January 18, 2007, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence and/or information in this case. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the evidence and/or information requested. This case will be held in suspense until we either receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once you submit the information and/or evidence requested, you will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something further from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service.

It is now January 29th and we have not received anything from USCIS. This morning my wife went to the Charlotte sub-office to find out the status of her EAD. They told her that her case is approved and don't know why she has not received the card yet. Apparantly the person that my wife was talking to made a phone call to the center where they send the EAD card. The guy told my wife that normally they will expedite the processing and we should get the card within 10 days.

The strange thing is that the guy never mentioned anything about the RFE as it appears in the email notice above. Since I was not with my wife during this appointment, she failed to ask the guy regarding the RFE.

What do you suggest we should do? Wait, call or what... please let me know if you have had similar situations

Thank you

Well, is she working now and would have to stop if she doesn't get her ead? If so then I'd definitely try to call more and find out, but if you have some time to wait just give it a couple weeks and see if the card (or the RFE) comes in the mail. Usually they tell you to wait at least 30 days after they say they're sending you something before you can request it be resent. If 30 days do pass I'd go for an infopass appointment because you want to be sure there isn't some RFE lurking around that could hurt you later.

Naturalization
