For those of you doing CR/IR1 process and have already gone for the interview or will be in the next week or two.. I wanted to inquire about the whole VCF process.

On the Mumbai site, it says that all the required documents need to be submited to your local VCF office. Does this also include the results from the medical exam? The reason I ask is that my wife is in Rajkot Gujarat, the medicals can only be done in Mumbai, and VCF states that all documents need to be submited 10 days prior to the interview.

So would that mean my wife would need to go to mumbai and get her medical done so she can submit it 10 days prior to the interview? Or can she go to the VCF office in Ahamdabhad and submit all the documents except the medical and do that a couple of days before the interview and take the results with her for the interview?

Also, at the VCF, what are the total fees that need to be paid?

Thanks guys

A response would be greatly appriciated to the question above

We had gone throu this...and I am also very familiar with lots of applicants from Rajkot/Ahmedabad area....answers to your questions are as below:

(1) she can submit the paperwork except medical to ahmedabad VFS office. The rule to submit papers to VFS is max. 15 days before but min 10 days beofe. Pl remember these are 10 & 15 working days..so exclude weekends and holidays from it..(for ex, my wife's interview was on 1st feb so window to submit was 8th jan to 16 jan...as threre were few hoildays in between...so get the idea?)

(2) it is better if she can go in person to submit papers to VFS..because they need to see passport to put some tracking barcode on it...so its good to go in person as u need to carry passport and original appt letter.

(3) Rs. 365 can be paid in CASH...

(4) For medical, she can fix appt in mumbai one or two days before interview date and get it done in one trip. They give report same day...so she can carry that with her in interview...no problem.

Hope this helps....if there are any more question, feel free to let me know....

good luck.....

most police departments require to show proof you need the police clearance certificate. so you ahve to wait until you have your packet 3/3.5 papers. those papers shows as a required item to have the police certificate.

if you have that then i wouldnt wait to get your police certificate. i would start now. some places have shown to take a 30 day turnaround time. other places (as my husband experienced) simply had difficulty completing the task and we had to bug em a million times to get it.

so start on police certificate now if you can.

I would recommend to start working on PCC(police certis.) ASAP. Its good to have them early in your possession before interview. In Mumbai, as we got it, they dont ask for any proof to show them from US consl or anything. You just have to mention that you need it for the US Visa. So I am sure that is case with Ahmedabad. In case if they ask any proof, get the packet-3 checklist printout from mumbai consl web site and take it along to show them.

Good luck....

riz:

Got the msg too. No we didnot use VFS facility primarily because I didnot find it that useful(May be its just us!!!)...the rationale for not using the VFS facilities are:

- They just take you to US consl in shuttle bus which is only few blocks away...but to use this you need to reach at 7:00 in morning...while we went strt at 7:45 to consl gate...no worry...so I dint find it exciting to reach VFS at 45 mins earlier just to wait for thier bus to take us few blocks away...plus same is a case when you come out from interview, you need to wait sometime in thier bus to go back to vfs.....

- We went in our own car as we are from mumbai only so went strt at 7:45 morning at consl as mentioned and pushed out straight from consl to a mall nearby once she comes out of interview...so no need to wait for vfs bus another half hour....

Well, we didnot use vfs because we were from mumbai and we had outr own vehicle.....but it may be good for someone coming outside mumbai as they are providing some lockers facility too....so I am not saying its not worth...its just that we didnot want to waste abt 30 mins each way to use this facility since we were able to manage on our own!!!!

good luck....
