So, these few incidents, do they mean we're all going to riot? There's always a bad apple in the bunch. I live there, and will be right in the thick of it this weekend. I wish folks would have more faith than hoping for the worse.

Says the same person that that uses isolated incidents to claim that racism is still alive and well in the U.S. Can't have it both ways.

Rules of Engagement:

1. If they loot: Shoot

2. If they burn: Shoot

3. If they attack: Shoot

4. If they smile: Smile back

5. If they verbally threaten: Threaten back

6. If they throw things: Throw things back

If they are peaceful, it will end peaceful. However, they have already planned for violence. So, give them more than what they dish out.

Didn't ask for it to be both ways. If these incidents are used to paint black people as violent, then those isolated incidents should say the same thing about racism. Your choice.

In this thread your claiming that people shouldn't use these isolated incidents to paint black folks with a wide brush. In the other thread you're citing isolated cases from 25 years ago as evidence that racism is alive and well. You're the one making these opposing claims, not me. So it's your choice, not mine.

Not exactly rioting, but I do recall some people being attacked and murdered because GZ was not convicted...

One story I can't find but remember reading is where a group of black teens chased some kid home, and when the dad came out to try and chase them off, the group attacked him and either beat him to death or put him in the hospital. Can't recall the outcome for sure.

There's no proof of that anywhere in your links. Rumors are usually just that - rumors. Evidence, they are not.

You're right. Those two brothers were killed three days after GZ was acquitted because they had a "FREE ZIMMERMAN" bumper sticker on their truck. No reason to link the two events at all.

A spate of recent cases that have made national news offer a few telling examples. There was the African-American woman who, frustrated by the lack of success in her job hunt, decided to disguise her virtual self as a white woman, only to have offers begin pouring in. Similarly, job seeker José Zamora’s résumé failed to garner a single response until he anglicized his name to Joe, after which the callbacks began. Preeti Singh, an Indian writer living in the US, says that after three months of radio silence from literary agents, she decided to make a single change to her query letter, altering her name Pat Smith. Several of the agents who had not even bothered to reply suddenly wrote expressing interest in Pat’s novel.

And in a segment last year from This American Life, a New York City housing discrimination “tester” – a young African-American woman who poses as a potential renter to uncover racial bias – described a super who seemed genuinely apologetic when he told her his building had no vacancies. She later discovered he’d shown a one-bedroom to a white tester later the same day. Prior to that incident, she’d considered herself someone who could capably detect racial prejudice, but in this case, she’d failed to sense it. “Does that mean I’m misjudging other people?” she wondered. The experience forced her to reassess every interracial interaction in her life.

Is this more recent for you? Or do I need to find something within happening within the last 15 minutes?

There are always going to be ignorant people in the world. And until people learn we are all human beings, these things will continue to happen.

Non-gruberites all know this. That's why they are buying guns to protect their families, themselves, and their property.

Again, there's no evidence of that. It's possible, sure, but there's absolutely no evidence that this is the case.

I agree with you. Just as there is no evidence of the president doing bad things for this coutry.
