K-3 question

hello. i am new to this site. i have been enjoying following everyone's stories, journies, etc. i have a quick question. i am the us citizen and my husand is from ghana (in west africa). we are going the k-3 route and i was wondering, if the I-130 is approved before the I-129F, what comes next? Do i just continue to wait for the I-129f to be approved, because I don't think I want to go the CR-1 route. or, do i have to send out some other form once the I-130 is approved? i'm getting a bit confused and I would appreciate any support, because many people on this site have helped me tremendously!!!

My I130 petition was approved before the I129F, at this point we are still pursuing both, but hope that we will get the IR/CR1.

At this point they will probably take the identical amount of time unless something goes wrong with one of them - I've seen people who's applications have seemed to go into some sort of a black hole at the consulate and take forever to get an interview. So until we have an interview scheduled we will be pursuing both.

The IR/CR1 really is the superior visa - you get a green card upon entering the U.S., so if it happens that you can get it before the K3, that's a good thing.

I'm pretty sure all you need to do is just wait for the I-129 to get approved and transferred on to the NVC. You're at the VSC and they're quick so you're lucky. (I'm jealous)

You should fill out your timeline though. It will help you and others estimate their timelines.

thanks so much! you were great help! and yes, the VSC is really quick and for that i am very grateful! this site is excellent and we will all have our loved ones soo close to us soon :-)

Radical Lover, Akwaaba to VJ! I am glad that you are filing through Vermont because from what I have seen they do move very quickly! As many others have already advised you, you should pursue both. I hope that by the time your hubby's K-3 petition is done being processed at the NVC and sent to the US Embassy in Ghana, you do not have to go thru the long wait that rest us have had...If haven't already checked it out and would like to read about others going thru the Ghana embassy use the search button up above and read all the old posts or you can always PM anyone of us who have had to deal with this embassy. From the looks of it recently (in the past month or so) both CSC and VSC approve both petitions at the same time. The I-129F (for K3) will just make a short stop at the NVC and then onto the consulate whereas the I-130 needs more processing at NVC.

I was one of the people recently who filed through VSC and both petitions were approved at the same time. I'm not interested in CR-1/IR-1, just the K3 for a faster reunion.
